I'm confused... so the defendants were such lousy workers, yet she sold them a Jeep on terms, allowed them to drive her Mercedes, rented them a car, and was going to gift them a Camry?! On top of all that, she paid roughly $1000 of an over $5000 wage bill, and according to her testimony, employed them for about 20 days at the minimum, despite them basically not having worked a single entire day. It's clear she thinks she was taken advantage of, and quite possibly was, but her lack of evidence and repetitive gifting of access to vehicles, doesn't support her claims, so I'm really not sure what she expects a judge to do for her.

I believe the plaintiff when she said they were unproductive, lousy workers. How does it take 30+ days to move stuff out of one house? I understand that her father had a ton of stuff, but it shouldn’t take that long especially if they were working the long hours that they said they did
@ncqueenbee9838

Clearly she was trying to barter with them, vehicles in exchange for work. She messed up by not keeping track of anything. It only take a few seconds to jot down what time they arrived and what time they left, then deduct the amount she paid them as well as the amount from the price of the vehicles. Crazy case indeed.
@JamieM470

@@ncqueenbee9838 The plaintiff said at one point that she had the times he arrived (worked?) written down, but JJ didn't want to see it. I think they were friends, and that's why it was all so loosey-goosey. The defendant's daughter & her fugitive boyfriend lived there while they helped the plaintiff move stuff. The plaintiff bought their food & gave them use of utilities, etc for free, also gave them money here & there that she stupidly did not keep track of. Dude wrecked her mercedes then had her jeep impounded. I think the whole thing started as friends helping friends & turned into a huge mess.

She agreed to pay both defendants an hourly rate to do a job. JJ calculated it to be $2400 per person. Total of $4800. Yet she only paid them 1000. She's lucky she did not have to pay them money above and beyond handing over the title to the jeep.

In a way, Judy calculated that though by just inventing that it was 30 full work days, the plaintiff insists that it is not. Judy is assuming the plaintiff is lying to get there. Now the plaintiff didn't keep records so its on her to do that, but that doesn't mean the plaintiff is lying. The defendants said essentially nothing the whole case, they very well could be the ones lying here, they're getting arrested, crashing cars, etc. Who knows, but plaintiff has burden of proof and so I get it in a way. Doesn't mean that's what actually happened. The defendants could very well be the extremely lucky ones that plaintiff didn't keep better records to prove they are crooks.

@@Sidious6460 I can't believe that anyone would hire someone to do a job like that, then get so entangled up with them as she admits she did for as long as she did, if they were not working regularly at it. It doesn't make sense that she would continue to keep them on for that long of a period of time if nothing was getting done. In a normal situation an employer would fire them and hire someone who would work. She also can't see, and apparently you can't either, that $1000 doesn't go very far when it's supposed to be covering the defendants, the boyfriend and multiple other people for a number of days. She admitted to 24 days and a couple hours a day. Just to cover the defendant and the daughter that's96 hours at ten dollars an hour each, which is $1920. But she also admits there were other people on "some days". That's well over the $1000 she paid, if we just go by what she admits to. So I don't believe her. In my opinion, there is something not right about the situation, moving people in with her, giving them keys to a rental car after they just smashed up the car she owned...DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. That's why JJ didn't believe her.

@@SageKayDee Lol I didn't miss that part 😂 That doesn't change anything about my point. The plaintiff said it was 20 days of a couple hours at a time. Totalling about 2 full work days. Also that she paid them over 1300. She is absolutely saying she thinks plaintiff lying. She used 240 hours, plaintiff said like 16 hours - how can you not see that she is therefore not believing the plaintiff. As I said, it is on her for not keeping records, that absolutely doesn't mean that she isn't telling truth, it doesn't make it right, it just means she loses her case, which is what I said.
@Sidious6460

@@brt5273 She said it was 2 full days of work total spread out over 20 days and she paid them over 1300. She said defendant promised it would take 3 full days. I'm not saying I believe her, I'm saying that there is no reason to believe the defendant who also had no records - as I said in a court case I understand why she had burden of proof. In reality that doesn't make plaintiff lucky, records being kept mightve shown she was telling the truth. Defendants daughter dated a criminal, they crashed one car, father was also a criminal, they had another car impounded. You clearly didn't listen to everything she said and as you say don't believe her, that's fine. Doesn't mean she isn't telling the truth. She said she was told it would be 3 days for 8 hours a day, she paid out over 1300, she said he didn't do job properly, wrecked one of her cars, had another impounded. My point is, if what defendants said is accurate - one of whom dated a criminal on the run, the other of whom was a criminal - then she is lucky, if the plaintiff was telling the truth, then the defendants ripped her off completely and the defendants are lucky she didn't keep records. It's an indisputable fact thar if plaintiff were telling the truth, she got hugely ripped off. I don't know if she was telling truth though and neither do you. I don't think her story is impossible to believe at all, she was grieving death of parents and was scatterbrained. She didn't keep records and was taken advantage. That kind of thing does happen without doubt. I don't know if it's the truth. But the defendants who have criminal pasts, don't strike me as honest in the least. I don't think she was good enough actress to play as shocked as she looked by daughters version of events if it were indeed honest.

The whole case is a mess and I think neither party was telling the truth. Plaintiff clearly had no idea how many hours they worked, but I also believe her when she says that some days that worked for 2 or 3 hours, not the 8 hour days that JJ gave them credit for. I couldn't even keep track of the jeep and the camry, but regardless of who gave them the keys, running from the police and getting the car impounded certainly isn't the the fault of the plaintiff. Yes it’s not her fault but it’s her responsibility because she allowed him to use the car that was not covered for him to drive. She could have told them: I will provide you with the car to move the junk, food and accommodation, and you will have to pay me in the end instead of the contrary, if that was what she was willing to provide. And maybe they would have taken on that offer - but I know I wouldn't have and I can't think of any sensible person who would have taken on that offer for such a hard labor. A few conclusions of my own: 1) plaintiff was lacking documents to prove hours worked however 2) plaintiff didn't ever dream about keeping time cards because she underestimated the amount of work to move all her dad's junk 3) plaintiff is in denial of the amount of junk 4) plaintiff absolutely did not have permission from Hertz to let someone else drive the car. She was trying to pull a fast one on JJ by saying she had 'permissive driving' but we all know that is for the insurance, not for a rental car insurance is providing you while your car is being repaired 5) because she underestimated the amount of work it would be, she didn't have the cash to pay them, thus the barter for the jeep 6) defendants also underestimated the amount of work and were probably lazy but I do believe they did do most of the work 7) plaintiff has no idea where the title to that jeep is 8) defendant (girl) didn't get paid at all for the work she did, guy was awarded Jeep but where is her pay? 9) not sure why JJ didn't throw out plaintiff's witness, seems like an idiot 10) even if they didn't do all the work, this case is a good example that if you shut up and don't get on JJs bad side and just be quiet, you might just win anyway. 11) defendant (girl) knows exactly why the boyfriend was running from the law, she was in the car 🤣 Good but confusing case. I remember watching this case on its original first run air date. What struck me was just how scared and flustered the plaintiff got as the case went on.

So be there for hours, chatting and wasting time. They don't seem to be expert organizers, movers nor any of the sort. But she kept letting it go. Did not keep tracked of hours, but worst yet, kept negotiating other ways to "pay" them or "help" them. I mean, she invited the girl and criminal boyfriend to live with her. I believe when she said the car was promised to the boy. I think the plaintiff in her grief just kept making bad decisions. One over the other. And these two bufoon took advantage of her. Now it would have been different had she said I will pay an agreed upon amount and you have this much time to get it done. That’s different cuz then she could’ve proven whether they did the work or not and in that case she wouldn’t have to keep track of how many hours each day they worked just so long as the job was done in full in the end. I would never agree to pay someone by the hour and not keep meticulous records down to the minute that they were working. I don’t believe for one second that the daughter worked from the time she woke up to the time she went to sleep every day!! Complete lie but that’s why the plaintiff should’ve kept track
