Might’ve been true 5 years ago, but it’s been a decade since the FPIU has entered service and it’s pretty safe to say that it’s cemented itself as THE cop car now. You see an Explorer with a black grill slow roll on you in your rear view and you immediately think you’re fucked, that’s a pretty tell tale sign.

Awesome video. Officer was extremely professional and knowledgeable. Statement he made about his age starting to b?be a cop was not just informative but interesting because he does indeed have a advantage over young officers. Hes absolutely correct about hes been through every day stress and shit we all have but the BIGGIE is if I was ever being stopped by any cop, it would be this gentleman. He understands Life and People big, small mistakes to extremely dangerous crimes... The reason is because he can keep his cool, talk and treat people with respect and how he would want to be treated. I HAVE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS IN MY FAMILY SO I GET IT. This cop only been a Police Officer for only 2 years is very impressive by the way he speaks and acts.... He will be a Outstanding Police Officer and will keep his community safe and be able to make new friends, good or bad situations no matter what. Additionally he will be a great asset to his department and his fellow colleagues and officers and maintain his safety and his buddies on the force. It's a extremely dangerous, and difficult job but he will be fine. It's too bad that there has been so many corrupt, dirty and dangerous cops who beat, ignore human rights, Lying, stealing to murder because it makes this job extra difficult and dangerous because of the People Don't Have Much Trust in Cops anymore. So a great cop like this one has to listen and not listen to the Public out cry for Justice and still do his dangerous job and be kind and respectful to people. The hybrid SUCKS SO BAD! I was Troopin up in the midwest and despite our very renown drive track instructors advising command staff NOT to buy any due to their testing results, staff did it anyways to prove to no one listening, that we were being "eco friendly." I had the awful displeasure of temporarily being assigned one while my AWD V8 Charger was in the shop... MY GOD it was TRASH. For starters, you'll step on the gas and there is a massive delay before getting a response, and then once it does start to work, it's slow.... THEN you get this horrendous down shifting that will occur at random times that completely throws the car off balance. I was taking a sweeping left handed corner one time and it down shifted, putting the car from say 2,500rpms to more like 5k! That drastic of a shift mid corner caused a lot of engine brake and upset the balance, causing frontward weight transfer. I encountered some oversteer due to it and could have easily lost the car. Is is capable of braking effectively, but the brakes feel awful... I was given some reason why... maybe it had something to do with a regenerative feature? Anyways, my experience and time in the hybrid was very upsetting. It did not have a single advantage other than a bit of fuel savings, which in my opinion, was not worth the immensely lacking functionality. You did interview a school resource officer though... probably a perfect fit for that guy, would NOT suggest it for any type of daily patrol.

Interesting. Haven’t driven a hybrid yet. They are apparently 548lb heavier than the regular gas versions(5303 vs 4755) which is a ton a weight…. They also cost about $3500 more per unit. Maybe for urban city use there could be come fuel savings. Charger 5.7 awd was the best cruiser…. Durangos have been ok. Tahoe is slow but at least it has a ton of space.

The hybrids are complete junk. There's a reason Ford discontinued it. We've had them die (just stop running) while moving, to take several minutes for them to be operational again. No dash/warning lights, nothing. The transmissions shudder, the mufflers vibrate/resonate horribly under hard acceleration. And when the gas engine fires up, sounds like the bearings are gone, even when brand new.

The only thing I don't like about this police car is that it's a hybrid. the only thing worse would be an all-electric police car. I think hybrid and electric emergency vehicles should be banned. Emergency vehicles need to be dependable. They should be left out of politics and the green agenda.
