As an EMT, one of the worst calls I ever had that I'll never in my life forget was six teens (4 in the back, 2 in the front. The driver was 17 and had his little 13 year old sister with them) who tried the same thing. There was a hill crest that got a lot of teens seriously hurt when they tried to get that negative g-force, stomach floating feeling. Unfortunately for these teens, it was 4am and they were trying to jump the hill. After the street levels off again past the hill, there's a slight left curve. The tires regained traction late enough that the driver severely over corrected to the left, and at an estimated speed of 65 mph, the car began flipping off into the woods, where the top of the car made contact with a tree, completely collapsing the roof all the way in, and having a similar effect on the kids' bodies. After pronouncing each one dead, we heard moaning coming from deeper in the woods. The driver had been ejected through the windshield, and his body was resting on a tree limb about 50 feet deeper in the woods. He had agonal respirations and severe multi-system trauma, but we worked him best we could all the way to the trauma center. He unfortunately died on the way to the operating room in the hospital. This terrible story has a lesson, and that lesson is to talk to your kids about the dangers of driving fast. When they came of driving age, I showed mine pictures I took of the car after the bodies were removed. There were chunks of hair with the scalp, blood, and other gorey substances to convince them that it wasn't just a dad being a paranoid dad. This shouldn't happen to anyone else, regardless of the invincibility you feel as a teenager.
@dudeonbike8002 жыл бұрын
"Red Asphalt" was required watching in public school driver's ed. That ended when we let private industry charge families for the same thing - but they removed the reality of blood, guts & gore. No self-respecting industry would let THAT get shown to future customers!!!! We need MORE of this to show kids the scourge of not-so-smart phones. Instead, it's more self-promotion and concealing the reality of driving.

I remember back in the early 80's, there was a very similar crash that killed 5-6 high school teenagers. Someone bought the vehicle salvage, put it on a flatbed truck and parked it in front of the high school. Some people applauded, but others objected saying that it further traumatized the deceased family and friends. I applauded. Sometimes teenagers need to see what happens to a vehicle when you drive it like a dumb-ass. Youth, seat-belts, airbags, and being surrounded by metal doesn't make you invincible. AN UPDATE: Since this happened long ago, I asked a friend who was more familiar with the accident. My friend said it was the father of a 15-year girl passenger who bought and displayed the salvage. The girl's father was mad and upset with the parents of the driver (a 16-year-old) who bought their son a brand new Ford Mustang for his birthday. The girl's father wanted the crushed and mangled Ford Mustang to be a physical reminder for the driver's parents as to what happens when you give a fast high powered sports car to an immature and inexperience driver.
@teerollings69192 жыл бұрын
Seeing the vehicle that was involved in the fatal accident doesn’t do much for some kids. They don’t associate that twisted hunk of metal with driving fast and being careless. You need to show them a picture of the mangled and dismembered corpses that police take before they remove the bodies. Kids see wrecked cars all the time, on roadsides, in garages, in movies,…so a wrecked car is just another wrecked car. But show them a picture of a dead teenager with his limbs missing and his neck broken….it hits closer to home.

Speed alone does not determine whether a car breaks in half or but yes, speed was a factor in this particular accident. In fact, modern cars are designed to crumple and break away so the energy from a crash spreads the force around, throughout the entire vehicle. I don't mean to sound like a know-it-all but I've been in this business for over 30 years. Good day people, drive safe...

@@ash27slick74 obviously it wasn't the speed, it's was the rapid decrease of speed helped by the surrounding inanoment objects. @ash27slick743 жыл бұрын
@@snoopdogg9061 Earlier cars were designed to be rigid without regard to what happened to the car and its occupants during a crash. All modern cars today, of course have crumple zones but most automobile manufacturers (definitely Mercedes), employ the breakaway feature on certain parts of the car. This has nothing to do with parts of the car becoming airborne projectiles because where the vehicle separates during impact is not an issue.

Several decades ago, when I was in high school, some kids from a neighboring school were attempting the same sort of thing in the early morning hours before the school day, right before dawn. They ran down the hill, hit the upslope, and "caught air"... right into the back of a garbage truck. All four of them were killed instantly. It was a lesson I've never forgotten, and when I was younger and more likely to do stupid things, I never did them with a car. My heartfelt condolences go out to these families. 😞

This is something that always sits in the back of my mind as a mother of now grown kids. It's all about the choices the driver makes in a moment of time and the ability of the passengers to be able to influence the driver to just stop and think about it. There were accidents on it constantly, namely younger people who were going too fast and every time it happened and my mom would tell me about it or show me the newspaper article I'd say "oh wow that's terrible" but it never deterred me from riding around in the car with my friends even if they were driving recklessly. Being young most of us just make inherently bad decisions and when we are older we look back and think how stupid we were but it's just how kids are no matter how well you parent. Up until then, it was Faces of Death marathons from the video store for us when we were younger. I love gruesome & gore... but that stuff could be horrific.... However, I was exposed to seeing my fair share of accidents & their trauma since I can remember due to the men in my dad's family all being Eagle Scouts (my grandparents were both leaders) & so we camped... A LOT... TOGETHER. Which requires A LOT of looong road trips in a caravan around the country w/A LOT of accidents, some pretty pretty bad (back then, no car seats for kiddos & the smallest sat on mom's lap up front... A LOT! Sadly😔). So, with all the scouting "professionals" we traveled with, we were better manned & well equipped (especially on the 1960's interstate) than most firehouses back then & ready for anything! Naturally, we always stopped & helped, wasn't in us to just drive on by. Guess you can say I saw, heard, & smelled them in real life. Did make me a safe driver btw. I had to drive right as I got my permit bc my (single) mom had uterine cancer & couldn't drive for 6 months, this was in 1980, medicine was different then. They actually still cared.🙄But, I digress.... I couldn't wait to hit the road solo tho.🙋🏼♀️🚗💨💨💨 (Eeeww.... No pun intended!😬)😄 Driving & music have always been my relaxation & escape.... I love it! Have a fabulous & blessed week, Carrie!💖 DRIVE SAFELY ⭐🏆⭐👍 Peace🕊️😘

I've never seen 1/2 of a car before...he had to really be flying down the street for that to happen. **listened a little more** imagine being a parent and hearing your kids died because the driver of the car was trying to do some dukes of hazard type shit...

Smh yeah that scene of the vehicle split in 2 looks insane its a pitiful shame what happened to those teens & thankfully no other driver was killed or injured maybe this will be a wake up call for other teens who are new to driving behind the wheel

Peep this for just a quick minute… First and foremost… please know that my question is, in deed, a genuine and legitimate question that I have, as well as, one that I would like an answer to. Also, I am in ABSOLUTELY NO WAY, SHAPE, AND/OR FORM “TROLLING” you!!! I feel that “TROLLING” is very disrespectful, in general!!! So, you just stated, “may god help those families affected by this horrific accident.”. Now, I can most certainly agree with you on the “horrific accident” part, due to the simple fact that this was VERY HORRIFIC!!! It was also a very SAD ACCIDENT and not to mention… A VERY AVOIDABLE ACCIDENT, as well!!! However, the one part of your comment that I cannot agree with you on is the “may god help” part. And this is where my question comes in at. I mean… theoretically, “if” their was a “god” and he could, in fact, help these grieving families… couldn’t he have just NOT allowed this fatal accident to even happen in the first place??? I have asked a many people this and the most common response is an upset, “how could you even ask that” mentality. Maybe it’s because they do not have a valid answer to this??? I don’t know what the deal is. I was always told that you will ALWAYS have question and doubt for your higher power. Thanks in advance. Have a wonderful weekend.

D.F.W. Jon 1- there is a God wether you believe it or not… 2- God’s existence is not validated by what he could prevent, he created human beings not robots programmed to obey every single command 3- God is not required to stop harm due to foolish decisions but at the same time he can comfort those paying the consequences of somebody else’s faults… But I completely understand you don’t believe in God and this probably won’t make much sense to you, and that is ok, you expect that from unbelievers…

Really? Considering they obviously, did not raise those fools, right, I thank God that they didn't murder an innocent person. They didn't teach those kids self respect, much less respect and responsibility. I feel for the ones who will have an accident because of those balloons, when they deflate and land on someone's windshield. Good grief...Jackasses have more sense.

It's always the Drivers that make stupid choices that live. Drunk drivers, Idiots that think 'speed = fun' on a public road, road-ragers...... It's never the passengers or innocents that are hit that live. Always the ones that caused the incident.
@annoyedok3213 жыл бұрын
The drivers are often just trying to impress the passengers and the passengers have the option to speak up. Being minors it's also our fault in permitting their actions which lead to the drivers poor judgment. Blood is on all our hands for allowing immature people the ability to drive without adult supervision.

@@buddyluv2660 I agree with you. a car full of teenage boys who were all friends just out driving around, I can easily see them egging each other on like hey wouldnt it be cool if we did...or let's see how fast we can get the car going. Teens usually all have the mentality of being invincible to things actually going wrong. this case is tragic and the guilt the driver will feel for his friends deaths will be an enormous weight on his shoulders til the day he dies.
