I am a hobbyist magician and I have to say, the cups and balls routine this guy did is one of the cleanest and smoothest I've ever seen. Incredible. He must have put in decades of practice on that routine. Penn and Teller would love this guy

The knot one is so great because you can clearly see when the cover is while he pulls off the trick, but you still can't believe he actually did it so it preserves the illusion and you don't feel "tricked" by it even though it of course is a trick :)

As a pro magician of 25 years I take my hat off to these craftsmen on the streets of India. They often make their own props and stick to the classics like this guy did, a variation of the Slydini silks, Marlo egg bag routine and cups and balls. They work under harsh conditions and get hassled by the police. I have more respect for these guys than a young fresh guy who buys the latest gimmicks just to get likes on KZbin.

I appreciate Karl a lot. He is not some one who you can call an apologist. He gives honest view about what is bad in India and what is good. Unfortunately we have a lot of scammers in our country. But normal people are always supportive of foreigners visiting India and I am sure will help them in case they are in trouble. I saw this in front of me. A South East Asian national had by mistake boarded the train without ticket. So a gentleman came to her help. He talked to the ticket examiner and told him that she is a foreign national and didn't have knowledge of the due process. He got the situation managed without any issues. We need more Indians who are helpful towards our guests.

if you visit India make sure to avoid Delhi. plenty of negatives. haven't seen many foreigner like Delhi. most of Indians don't like Delhi. Delhi is less than 0.03% of India by area. so you have whole of India to see even you avoid Delhi.

I love the knot trick and know how it's done. Most sailors would also be able to tell you how it works but it is a really impressive trick to anyone that doesn't know the 'secret'. I really thought he was going to scam you but that's a good trick to do for someone. He is unfortunately taking too long to do the 'trick' and it's a really good one to perform when you let them test the 'knots' and then you hand them one hanky to hold and say "Now don't do anything" and the hankies just fall apart right when they're holding one end. You can keep on doing this over and over and they'll never get how or why it's happening and it's a really fun trick for everyone to watch. He's definitely taking too long with what he's doing but it is still good.
