unfortunately if he stays a cop it'll be uphill battle, especially for big city, and not more wealthy suburb police... my childhood friend started out as rookie detroit cop at $22,000 a year + $5k extra for being on tactical unit... this was awhile back, but i was already making over 60k at the time as indy flooring installer at 20yrs old (self employed)... it's crazy that at least in metro detrot, that suburb cops who have way less dangerous risk level, make dbl to triple our city cops who say on average 1 in 4 cars they pullover have a firearm... and you wonder why some turn dirty-- even if they had no intentions to at hire...
