You take worn out reels of film and make a VHS tape from them. You play that tape a few hundred times and then use it as a source for a VCD. It's probably the worst quality film source on which this channel has ever worked. I sent the atrocious audio to my friend John Meyer who is much more knowledgeable about audio. He said it was hopeless, but did his best. The audio is still very bad but considerably better than the original audio and the film now has the best audio and video quality here on KZbin. But understand, saying it's the best doesn't mean it's good, only better. I hope you find it watchable.

There's a good fight near the end. Unfortunately, Hemant Kumar chose as the background music for that fight some already existing music. Not only did he use someone else's music, but he used a recording of that same music. I received 2 copyright claims on it from KZbin and was forced to remove the audio. 2 sections of about a minute and a half each. Music and some dubbed fight sounds were removed. No dialog.
The Wikipedia says this about Police:
"When an airplane brings ex dacoit Rangooni (Pradeep Kumar) from Singapore to Bombay, Inspector Mehra (Raj Mehra) looks upon Rangooni's return with well-founded suspicion. His arrival in Bombay disturbs the activities of a gang of jewel-theft specialists, led by man-about-town-Ramesh (Anwar Hussain). Rangooni foils the activities of the gang by forestalling the gangster. Manju (Madhubala), daughter of Bahadur Sunderdas, who encounters Rangooni many times, is excited by the prospect of getting the dacoit arrested and hopes to get a lot of publicity by so doing.
Ramesh, constantly thwarted by Rangooni, lays a trap for his opponent but in the last smashing chase scene is unmasked for what he is.
But who is Rangooni? What is the motive behind his seemingly incongruous actions?"

Love your work ♥️ i think those movies didn't do well on box office gets forgotten prints are lost its such shame as a nation we are not able to preserve our forgotten gems of Indian film history also there's should a legal authority working on this preserving every film of Indian cinema

Well, there is the NFAI (National Film Archives of India) in Pune, whose mandate is to collect what's left and restore them. But they mostly lock them up, except for some small number of showings around India. And thanks for the kind words.

Respected Shri Tommydann , on this festival of light day, yo have truly made my day. Ek Jhalak and Police have been my favourite movies,both made by Mr Pradeep Kumar. Ek Jhalak, I suppose is not available any where. The C D of Police I found in market, few years back, but but I was disappointed when I watched it. The C D had poor sound with plenty of noise and video was blurred . But your print is so good and I am thankful for your effort. Although I am just an ordinary admirer of your efforts , but I take liberty to appreciate your selfless efforts to save and give a new life to innumerable movies . May God bless you .

Thank you for the kind words. Yes, I was able to improve on the video quite a lot, after a lot of work. Unfortunately, the audio was pretty hopeless, although my friend tried his best.

There are VCDs available. But yes, the hum is very annoying. I can take credit for the improvement in the video. My friend worked on the audio and the first thing he did was to remove the hum. But there was only so much he could do about the noise because removing it all would also ruin the dialog. He did the best he could with that very bad source audio. Thank you for your appreciation of the work done.

amazing movie, i'm so glad it was able to be restored to this amount. your work is fabulous. i was wondering if you're working on anymore kishore kumar movies, or perhaps meena kumari? my mother loved their films however they're rarely found in good quality like your videos.

@@tommydan55 yes, she has from your account. you did a beautiful job restoring the film, so much so she watched it a few times. kishore kumar's way of acting and meena kumari's performances are truly a wonder. you're doing an amazing thing by restoring these old films, my mother has even had a tear slip out her eye from how much nostalgia it brought her. keep up the good work, and let the newer generations like myself know how significant these old movies were!
