(i first heard of it during the 80's)... any and all compensation comes from the public purse.. unless they actually commit an inditable crime.. ike Wayne Cousins but.. i 1000% agree.. that after a successful court case, (like the one in the vid) there should there be an independant investigation, using the evidence supplied to the court case, to see if the offficer involved should cough up, personally.. infringement of civilian rights needs to be addressed properly.. with proper consiquenses (like demotion, sacking, and effects to the pension).. depending on the results of the afor mentioned inquiry.. (with the option of appeal.. lets face it.. we all hate miscarrages of justice.. so this has to be done correctly) if there are multiple civil rights infractions to that officers record.. then there needs to be a cut off where, that officer is let go due to bringing the service into disrepute.. (they CANNOT work well if the general public is not onside) only then will policing in the country improve.. (a least a little, anyways).. but.. lately, world wide, governements seem to do the exact opposite of what is good for their populas.. and you can guarrantee.. what they will actually do.. is ban filming police, making it an arrestible offence.. even if its being done to actively protect the civilian. and then.. they will be able to get away with anything.. as to the world wide plan.. way too many vids of rights abuse coming from the US etc, to think its only a local phenomenon

I'm assuming they're a no win no fee outfit, in which case taking 25% of the compensation isn't unusual. The costs part is simply to cover their work on the case, and this was awarded to them as they won the case, so in effect they got paid for the work they did, then the extra 25% goes toward any cases they lose where they won't be awarded costs - effectively working for free. What I do object to is the £25 bank fee, are they wiring the money from the Cayman Islands or something? That's really taking the mick. Edit - a misunderstanding on my part, this was an out of court settlement so TLA wasn't awarded costs. If he had been then he would have got the full £5000 (minus 25% minus £25). Interesting that their costs came out to such a nice round number though. Imagine if they'd spent another couple of hours on it, there'd be nothing left for TLA!

Apologies just read the letter - You got £400 and the solicitors got the rest. They must love you.

Any land that is registered cannot claim it’s private unless it recorded as equity in a private trust.

We should follow the same procedure as the US police force and require every PC to have to get insurance each year, any claim against them should them increase their insurance year after year, the more they are sued the more they pay for insurance perosnally. Im sixk of hearing them say "thats ok" or "put a claim in if you feel like", because they know it doesn't come out of their pocket
@ianstorrar9342 ай бұрын
The police in the US do not have insurance, they have qualified immunity which protects them from being sued personally 99% of the time.
@jamesm8752 ай бұрын
@@ianstorrar934 Exactly what I was going to say and losing qualified immunity rarely happens as the Pol-Lice Union with pretty much unlimited funds fight tooth and nail to ensure you keep it and very rarely do they loose it.

£4,600 costs ? What was the breakdown of those costs ? Sheesh ! Seems extreme

Real winners here are HNK solicitors £100 of the damages £25 for cutting a cheque £4600 for a couple of emails £4725 total….. now that’s the real crime 😂
@Lightduties2 ай бұрын
The claimant should get at least the equivalent of the costs. As you say the winner here is the solicitor.
@simonneep84132 ай бұрын
@@Lightduties TLA did get costs paid to him, these costs were then used to pay the solicitor fees (who took their costs directly from the payment). Whilst the costs do indeed seem high, it's hard to know how much work was actually done for this case, but I don't doubt being a solicitor pays rather well!

@@simonneep8413 he said the equivalent of the costs. Not the actual costs.

Police Officer Crosses The Line & Then Gets Sued For £5,000 ???? NO-NO-NO - WE PAY THE £5,000 !!!😠😠😠😠

Thanks for the update TLA...look forward to seeing some of your other ongoing cases soon..the thing i find disturbing is the fact an Inspector Norman in this case felt he could go hands on with impunity..these examples may encourage other officers to follow suit..if he can we can!!

EVEN when was a serving Police Officer in the 1980’s, I had very little respect for the Met Police. Back then, they as unprofessional as they are today. Total muppets. I realise I am generalising & that NOT ALL officers & pc’s are or were muppets, but the majority were, that I came into contact with.

Your header says the police officer gets sued which is not correct mate . The taxpayer got sued . Don't get me wrong , I commend your actions and have the greatest respect for you as an auditor . Top notch you are . But until they make b@stards like him financially responsible for their own behaviour , it's the taxpayers bill ultimately . Hope you enjoyed your break 😊👊
