The black community has been looted on many levels and on many occasions. Here's an excerpt from a documentary on Sam Giancana and how he betrayed his "friend" Eddie Jones and took over the policy game in Chicago. Policy was once a major economic engine for many black businesses. At first illegal "policy" has now been taken over by the State and is called the lottery.

Giancana was more brutal than people realize. In 1927 the singer Joe E. Lewis refused to renew his contract for playing in Jack Mcgurns club and decided to play at their rivals club the north side gang. When Jack found out he sent 3 men to Lewis’s hotel room who slashed his face with a 10in hunting knife over a dozen times and cut part of his tongue off and left for dead. One of those men was Giancana. Capone couldn’t go against his own man so he gave Lewis 10,000$ for his medical bills and distress which is equal to about 100,000$ today.

I hope it tells the truth. The Jones boys was wrapped up in colorism. Ted Rowe, was not like that. Their 3 flat, on Michigan Ave. recently caught on fire but they are redoing it. Their mother's building, down the street is still intact. I got out my car one day and looked inside. The hallways still look the same, which is beautiful. Their property is on 47th and Michigan. They owned other properties and a hotel in the area. The hotel in directly on 47th and it is now closed and in bad conition. I could say more, but I will end now. Read the book, "Kings, the History of Policy in Chicago." It is WELL reseached.

@@decendantsofblackwallstree2320 Not exactly. When you wrote policy, there was two copies. One of the copies were made by using carbon paper. The writer kept that. The policy man, (he picked up the money) got the other policy slip. My mother use to write it. She played with Windy City in Chicago. I use to write it also.

"Policy" or "The Numbers" was the name of the lottery conducted in black communities in Chicago and other cities during the turn of the Century. It was an economic engine for many black communities helping to launch businesses and helping people out through tough times. Unfortunately the mob took it over by force and eventually it became the State lotteries we know today. Who knew!

@@OMProductions81 They kidnapped both of the Jones boys, and Jim Martin. Martin, controlled a lot of the policy on the West Side. Those 3 gave up, but Ted Rowe didn't. Rowe was gunned down in front of his building in 1952 or 53. His funeral was held at Reverend Cobb's Church on Wabash. Sam G was responsible for the killing. I think the person that developed the policy game was a man by the name of Sam Young.
