Not from Phil, but I was recently sold an ‘unworn’ watch which I later discovered was in fact polished (badly too, may I add)

I've polished a few things in my life. He makes it look easy, but it's not. Just the right amount of pressure, the right wheel, the right technique takes a lot of practice to get it looking factory. For him it's probably boring. But, I bet he gets a lot of satisfaction making something look new again. Cool video

Great video - thanks for sharing! One funny thing learnt here is how quickly a pro polisher can do the job - 20 mins! Grey market dealers would have you think that this process takes 3 weeks, and can only be done by elves that live in caves in Switzerland, given the fuss that they make over a few marks on a bracelet or case when you look to trade in a watch - again, thanks for sharing!
@haromaster60865 ай бұрын
I actually work in the industry and it doesn’t happen overnight. There’s a queue, just because you give a watch doesn’t mean it can be done the next day. There might be 50 to 100 watches ahead of your watch so it may take 2 to 3 weeks for you to get your watch back. Don’t forget there’s also shipping time too.

@@haromaster6086 I’m referring to elapsed time to do the job - not wait time to get it done 🤪

Nice job. I personally would not polish, but that's me. I wear my watches. For those commenting on the pressure testing, Miguel is not servicing the watch, he is merely polishing it. It is a USED watch and there is no evidence the watch was water pressure ready before he started the work on it. Waterproofness technically is only assured for 3-5 years after service. Thats why Rolex recommends service every 5 years. So, it's not his job to make it water resistant. That would entail new seals/gaskets and such. It's Not what he is doing.

From the moment he applied pressure to the buffer I quickly realized he knew the watch was fake. Usually, an expert like the technician will do a case analysis and the weight of the Rolex will set the tone. Slow cleaning is a indicator that the watch is real.
