Defaulting on the national debt could severely affect the economy, resulting in higher interest rates, a stock market crash, a recession, and massive job losses.

Without public pressure, some lawmakers may not feel compelled to act swiftly. Unfortunately, many people do not fully understand what a default on the debt ceiling means or its consequences.

Hi Tamera! Thank you so much for well explained vlog about debt ceiling. I’ve always enjoyed following politics but.. sometimes it can be very confusing :) I’ve got two questions, I hope you don’t mind me asking. I’ll try my best to ask you two questions clearly. 1.) what will happen if we default the debt ceiling? I hope it’s not a ridiculous question. 2.) in your vlog, you said department of treasury borrow money to pay debts. Who is department of treasury borrowing money from? I’m assuming.. central bank? World bank? I hope I’m asking the right questions lol Once again, thank you so much and please please don’t stop making vlogs like this. Thanks!!!

Yeah, I wonder----if the debt ceiling do more harm than good? I mean, when it comes to economics, especially how the debt ceiling and risks of a global financial crisis could have happened, the question, do the majority of Americans really UNDERSTAND the standard of harm in the debt ceiling, and why do U.S. even have a debt ceiling? It traces back to World War I in 1917---that all has begun right there. I await your answer.
@tameragaudet-doody50392 күн бұрын
I think i have already explained in my vlog the reason why it started back in 1917 via second liberty bond act. And wars!

@@tameragaudet-doody5039 Yeah, you certainly did, but I meant is that do they understand how much harm could have caused more than good?
@HandsSpeakMedia2 күн бұрын
@@TheLastHiccup Probably not. Economics is not well understood here in US. All they do is talk in their language that no ordinary Americans will understand. All they did is to keep agreeing with them when they are intimidated.

@@HandsSpeakMedia The Invisible Hand coined by Adam Smith, the Father of Economics was right! It is getting worse---unintentionally benefit society as a whole, and that's the problem Americans did not see it in a big picture filled with problems threatening their well being. My Economics teacher said that the Invisible Hand was the greatest threat then I look back what he said, "wow"---it's incredibly insulting and painful.

When default put government in jail ? Regular people will get into trouble if debt not paid ! And we can’t raise our own debt ceiling. If Andrew Jackson did it why can’t we do today ?

Default would be a disaster to our USA economy. No one going to be put in jail for this but we all would share suffer together which we didnt do this Yes thats disgusting rigorously!!!

Question - is revenue from our taxes never enough for the debit ceiling?
@tameragaudet-doody50392 күн бұрын
Some years when taxes revenues lowered than expected - shortening the lead time for the U.S. to raise the debt ceiling. Actually, Debt ceiling has raised 103x since 1930. Feel like its never ending 😢 to avoid the default

You misunderstood what she's telling on the video. She was only explaining about what debt ceiling is about and how it happened based on the historical events. She was only showing why the Congress is having a very difficult time making decisions because of the serious implications on the economy - either way is no good.
