As a 72 year old for second church service (3pm), where I have been there since 9:00am, flats any style always work and they are appropriate. I ask my 80+ year old mission sisters who also want to get up and praise the Lord with a run and shout not impeded with hurting shoes. We all agree pretty is the main focus. I don’t have as strong a feeling about them and actually have a pair of shoes that probably fall within the ballet flat family (but with a linger squared off toe).
