In the UK, there was a law that enabled citizens to sue war-criminals. In 2011 when Israeli war-criminal Tzipi Livni came to visit the UK and people filed for her arrest. Luckily our Head of Public Prosecutions was our dear Keir Starmer and he promptly issued a special document to give her immunity and changed the law so no other war-criminals in the future may be held accountable. He didn't start enabling genocides and war crimes today. He has built a fucking career out of it. It's unreasonable to expect for him to stop. Sadly, Palestinians' cause in the UK lost when Corbyn did.

What an utter word salad answers! It puts the lettuce at shame, which overlived Liz Truss. The UK is sinking into compliance of a full blown genocide on a false premise "a democratic nation cannot commit genocide". It surely can. Criticizing the Israeli goverment does NOT mean being antisemitic. Just as critisising the Hungarian goverment and Victor Orban is not equal to being anti Hungarian. I am a Hungarian immigrant and I hate what Orban is doing to my home country and he doesn't speak for me or represent me or my fellow citizens. He claims thou any criticism against his regime is a direct attack against all Hungarians. That is what authoritarians do.
@chatham43Ай бұрын
@lucky Two questions. Are you really Hungarian and have you looked up Genocide in the dictionary. I suspect the answer is no..and no😊
@sirsnipermonkeyАй бұрын
While I appreciate the need to avoid conflating criticism of Israel with antisemitism, the issue at hand is nuanced and deserves careful thought. The term “genocide” is indeed heavy and should not be used loosely, but accusations of war crimes are serious and, if grounded in evidence, should be investigated under international law and not prejudged. Your point about democratic nations not being able to commit genocide is a straw man, and is a judged currently under consideration by the courts. Further, drawing comparisons between the criticism of Israel and Hungary’s situation under Victor Orban, while valid in some ways, misses the point that different governments and contexts warrant unique analyses. Being critical of state policies does not equate to demonizing an entire people, whether it’s Israelis, Palestinians, or Hungarians. The key issue is holding states to a standard of international law, not excusing or demonizing any particular national identity. The problem is, there’s a lot of antisemitism going around right now.

@@jmaitlandthomas Maybe the Arab states that surround Gaza should offer to help the refugees and injured. Or don’t Arabs believe in helping others.
@mohamedalkabier1037Ай бұрын
@@lestrem11 unfortunately, the governments in the near Arab countries aren’t focused on their people or country’s interest, rather they have their own agenda and are puppets to the US. As people, the Arab people, we all would love to help Palestinians as many have done for the past 75 years and will always do.
@Titus9508Ай бұрын
@@lestrem11Hmmm. Supporting them in the fight leads to aggression from the US and UK, taking in entire populations as refugees means Israel gets its wish and the west claims justification in supporting racist colonisation, and another nation harbouring a discontent additional population. The only solution is to disband the failed European colony and do the right thing for the Middle East.

What happened to recognising the Palestinian state?
@lizroberts1569Ай бұрын
There is no Palestinian state the Palestine authority can’t deal with Hamas in Gaza there can’t be a two state solution they don’t want it, Yasser Arafat didn’t want it. What about the Druze children killed by Hezbollah in northern Israel I suppose they don’t matter.

@@lizroberts1569 whataboutery won't work with this one Liz, walking onto foreign soil and claiming someone's land as your own then torturing a population for over 70 years is enough reason for Palestinians to be given the right to their own state - the '2 state solution' is a way for the West to get away with occupying foreign land to get Israelis away from Europe. Ask yourself why they didn't make an Israeli State in one of the 50 states or somewhere inbetween Oxford and Bristol?

I have unfortunately been over there and you could tell from how they speak about the Palestinian people even English people as I was terrified for my own safety. The level of army checkpoints , gates , walls and security was deeply disturbing. If you dare to speak the voice of reason over there you will get in trouble.
