FYI and ref: (Updations/corrections) *** CAT : Part 14A: Art 323A and B As per the Tribunal reform act 2021, 1- The Chairperson and the Member of a Central Tribunal shall be appointed by the Central Government on the recommendation of a Search-cum-Selection Committee consist of- (a) a Chairperson, who shall be the Chief Justice of India or a Judge of Supreme Court nominated by him; (b) two Members, who are Secretaries to the Government of India to be nominated by that Government; (c) one Member, who - (i) in case of appointment of a Chairperson of a Tribunal, shall be the outgoing Chairperson of that Tribunal; or (ii) in case of appointment of a Member of a Tribunal, shall be the sitting Chairperson of that Tribunal; or (iii) in case of the Chairperson of the Tribunal seeking re-appointment, shall be a retired Judge of the Supreme Court or a retired Chief Justice of a High Court, to be nominated by the Chief Justice of India: 2- For SAT : Chairperson and members are appointed by central government on the recommendation of search-cum-selection committees consist of: (i) the Chief Justice of the High Court of the concerned state, as the Chairman (with a casting vote) (ii) the Chief Secretary of the state government and the Chairman of the Public Service Commission of the concerned state, (iii) the sitting or outgoing Chairperson, or a retired High Court Judge, and (iv) the Secretary or Principal Secretary of the state’s general administrative department (with no voting right). The central government must decide on the recommendations of selection committees preferably within three months from date of the recommendation. 3- Also for CAT and SAT : Eligibility and term of office: four year term of office (subject to the upper age limit of 70 years for the Chairperson, and 67 years for members). And a minimum age requirement of 50 years for appointment of a chairperson or a member. 4- Removal: Chairperson or members of tribunal be removed by central gov on recommendation of committee if C/M (a) has been adjudged as an insolvent; or (b) has been convicted of an offence which involves moral turpitude; or (c) has become physically or mentally incapable of acting as such Chairperson or Member 5- The Chairperson and Member of a Tribunal shall be eligible for re-appointment *** Presiding offficer of a vidhan parishad is a member of VP (with right to vote when removal is going on) unlike rajyasabha chairperson ***** I haven’t covered extra Constitutional bodies( NHRC, SHRC, CIC, CBI, Women, Minority commissions) . Please go through factual details of these bodies before exam) ****** Members of Vidhan Parishad are nominated and indirectly elected by SPR STV method 1- one-third (22) shall be elected by electorates consisting of members of municipalities 2- one-third (30) shall be elected by the members of the Legislative Assembly of the State from amongst persons who are not members of the Assembly 3- one-twelfth (7) shall be elected by electorates consisting of persons residing in the State who have been for at least three years graduates of any university in the territory of India 4- one-twelfth(7)shall be elected by electorates consisting of persons who have been for at least three years engaged in teaching in such educational institutions within the State, not lower in standard than that of a secondary school 5- one sixth (12) members shall be nominated by governor who has special knowledge in the field of Literature, science, art, co-operative movement and social service. * 7th amendment, 1956 curbed the maximum number of VP members to 33% ****** National Emergency in India until now- 1962,1971,1975 State emergency (president rule) in Maharashtra until now - 1980, 2014,2019 ***** Women reservation: 106th CA (128th CA bill) passed by special Majority and ratification of more than 50% of the states Tabled on 18th Sept Passed on lok sabha on 20th (454-2) Passed on lok sabha on 21st (214-0) president signed on 28 Sept New articles : 330A - Loksabha 332A - State Vidhansabha 334A - applicable for 15 years after first census Article amended- 239AA 2(b) Meaning , Applicable to LS , all state VS and Delhi VS Also applicable to Puducherry and J&K
