POLKABAL AND PASO DOBLE DANCE

Polkabal- The dance got its name from two popular dances in the late 1800s: the polka and balse (waltz). Though the balse is mentioned in the name of this dance, there is no single waltz step used in this dance. The steps of this dance are identified as the luksong uwak (jumping crow), wagayway (fluttering), hardin (garden), punta y tacon (heel and toe), corrida (bullfight), paseo (leisurely walk), ensayo (practice), contragansa (hop-cross) and the contragansa doble (double hop cross).
Paso Doble is a lively and dramatic dance style that originated in Spain and is often associated with bullfighting. The dance is performed by a couple and features sharp, staccato movements and powerful poses. The music is typically in a 2/4 time signature with a strong, driving beat, and the dance is characterized by the use of cape-like movements, stomping footwork, and intense facial expressions. The Paso Doble is a popular dance in ballroom dance competitions and is often seen in shows and exhibitions.
