grew up in Elmwood Park 50s-60s, Johnnies is the BEST beef anywhere. also being Catholic we couldn't eat meat on Fridays, so Johnnies offered a pepper and egg sandwich on Fridays...i'm craving one right now...

I use to carry mail from the Elmwood Park post office. I've eaten there and the sandwiches were good. In the summer time, they have a line out the door.

Chicago, Oak Park, River Forest, and Elmwood park are on directly across the street from each other on the cross streets of North Ave and Harlem. ALL OF THEM ARE CONSIDERED CHICAGOLAND. You don't need a passport or worry about crossing into an entire different country to get to anyone of them .

Super weak cause I actually think they took card for about a year during the pandemic... oh and their prices DRASTICALLY increased. Still great beef but declining overall imo.

You can walk across the street and get cash from the ATM at that grocery store. Heck the Walgreens down the block would give you cash back if you purchase something
