Happy to know I have all these recommended plants already in our garden. I’d also suggest ironweed. I’ve noticed a specialist bee on them. Thx for promoting these great plants. Love the short video!

omg i didnt know that that specific bee can only get pollen from violets, ill stop pulling them out, omg omg thank you!! i didnt know

Violets are a host plant for many fritillary butterflies as well. So cool that you’ll leave them. I’ve done the same and rabbits like them too and I don’t get upset when they eat them.

I am so glad that you discussed the difference between goldenrod and ragweed! I definitely suffer with pollen from ragweed!

Thanks, Lourdes; nice to have a new video. I'm blessed to have plenty of goldenrod, asters, and blueberry growing wild on my property. Glad to see they are on the "most desirabel" list.

Great list of plants and I love it when I check off I have them already so I don’t run back to native nursery as I tend to buy more then just that one plant. My last trip I was getting skull cap but I saw some starters for northern honeysuckle bush, male and female winterberry, Virginia sweetspire, coral honeysuckle, and New Jersey tea. They are trying to make natives more affordable so offering starters as well as full sized plants to help people. As a bonus my pearly everlasting just arrived in mail so got that planted. Hard to get that and I missed out getting it at nursery last year, so I decided to mail order it and so glad I did nursery didn’t have this year. 😊

My goldenrod plants are in their second year and growing like mad. My aster is also in its second year and it’s blooming now, in May. Isn’t that weird?!? Unfortunately blueberries aren’t going to grow in my alkaline soil. Evening primrose is new to this beginning gardener, and I’d love to learn more.

Which flowers that grow in shade are good for pollinators? Half of my yard is shade, and the sunny spots are reserved mostly for veggies
@dankeener3307 Жыл бұрын
For shady areas I’ve succeeded with zigzag golden rod (S), spiderwort (Early Spring), white snakeroot (F) and golden ragwort (Spring). Bloom times in parentheses. This is Lancaster, PA.

which plants are good for bringing in dragonflies? or what to do to help bring them in? thank you!!
@dankeener3307 Жыл бұрын
They feed on insects. A small pond or water feature is needed for the part of its life cycle as a nymph.
