Pollo Campero is a fried chicken chain that is very popular in Central America, specifically Guatemala and El Salvador, and has now opened a fairly large amount of restaurants in the US. Most of Pollo’s restaurants can be found in US cities with large Salvadoran populations such as Houston, Northern Virginia, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. While the traditional fried chicken is great, I highly suggest their citrus grilled chicken which is not only a healthier option, but probably the best grilled chicken option available at any fast food restaurant in the US. Pollo offers many of the traditional sides you will find at a fried chicken restaurant like mashed potatoes or coleslaw, but also more traditionally Central American sides like plantains, fried yuca, as well as the option of dinner rolls or Mexican style tortillas instead of biscuits.
