this is so wonderful I bought a very old but very nice violin case I am hoping to use to protect my first rebec.

Just a good, honest sound, played well. Beautiful instruments, too!

Thanks! I was going to add guitar, but with balancing the volume levels of the fiddle, it took away a bit from the banjo (plus having similar pitches made it a bit hard to distinguish the banjo’s low strings from the guitar’s). Can’t get any better than a fiddle/banjo duet, though.

Good stuff Noah, sounds great. I'm really liking your fiddle. Also, I see you hold your bow very similarly to me.

Thanks, Aaron! I’ve caught myself with my thumb and forefinger sliding up the bow shaft at times while playing, but I try to hold it on the grip or on the wrap. Though, I do find it balanced and comfortable in front of the wrap on the shaft.

You're picking up the fiddle pretty fast! Bowing is really the hardest part of playing, but yours sounds great already. That fiddle looks like it'd be perfect for holding in the crook of your arm like old-timers do, mine is too large for that so my arm gets tired real quickly, hah.

Thanks! I’ve been teaching myself off and on for close to ten or so years now. Has felt nice to play again and re-learn/remember what I was doing. Was starting to find my way on it pretty well before selling off my last fiddle 5-6 years ago before getting bit by the bug again earlier this year, thus building my first fiddle so I could have one again (and made with a few of my preferences (thicker neck, wider string spacing at the nut) instead of hunting for one that may or may not have them). I’ve tried that hold before but never felt comfortable with it as opposed to under the chin, though this fiddle feels like it would work well. It turned out a little smaller given the parameters of the ash wood pieces I had, so the body is about 13” long and 6 1/4” wide at the lower bout, with a scale length of 12 1/2” (7/8 size). I’ve come to call it a long scale skinny 3/4-size lol.

Great! Which software do you use to make the split screen video?
@NoahCline5 ай бұрын
Thanks! I use iMovie. There may be an easier way of doing it, but basically I set up my phone on a stand, record the lead video, shoot the recording over on to another phone/recorder, and listen to that while recording the second one.

Honestly I think Noah might be a little better than Noah. Don't get me wrong, Noah's damn Good, but Noah.... sheesh. Forget about it.
