Every now and then there are crystal clear voices that come along. For me, there was Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Barbara Streisand, Dolly Parton, Whitney Houston and now Adele. I like "Skyfall" and "Rumor has it".

Love Adele Another great British singer but from my era is Alison Moyet. Incredible voice - still going strong. She was in a band called Yazoo before going solo. Try 'All cried out' for some incredible vocals

When this hit the charts was the 1st I heard of Adele, been a big fan ever since. Such a powerful voice and lyrics. She not only sing, but plays multiple instruments and writes most of her own material. Got a record contract at 18 a week after graduating from a London performing arts school. You need to listen to the studio version.

I would absolutely 💯 love to see you react to the very first Adele song I ever heard. I don't think it was her "break-out" song, because not a lot of people to this day are familiar with it (at least, I haven't heard it mentioned very often). When I heard it I had no idea who she was, but I instantly knew I'd heard someone destined for greatness! The name of the song is "Chasing Pavements". It's STILL my favorite Adele song! Thank you!

That setting is the best place to show off vocal ability as its not really set up for great acoustics and great singers can show off how great they are without all the electronic help. Adele does just that.

I can’t imagine not liking Adele’s voice. I love that you chose to listen to the Tiny Desk Concert version. The NPR music reporter invites acts to come perform behind his desk. The space is intimate and bands often go acoustic for the set. Check out Macklemore’s Tiny Desk Concert for a hugely different use of the space!

Her voice is so powerful she really needs some instruments behind her I think. There's a video of her doing this song live in a little studio, not sure where but it was possibly a radio station and they actually had instruments and back up singers. It was incredible. I love this song but didn't really care for this version. I felt it wasn't balanced. Those pipes can stream roll light backup.

I'm 74 & have always loved clear,well controlled voices,male & female. Adele is special. Some of her concert videos are enthralling. This clip just shows her raw talent (did I dare say raw !) Recordings are good but some of her concert work is great

I remember hearing at the time that she wrote this song in response to a breakup with her former boyfriend & he tried to cash in on her royalties because he was the inspiration for the song. Of course that didn’t happen, but just goes to prove she was well rid of him, lol.
