The Bee Gees were a family band from Australia. Barry Gibb (the guy in the middle) was recently awarded a Kennedy Center Honor for his contributions to the music industry. He's written songs for other singers as well as their group. Sadly the other two brothers have passed away. Barry has been married to his wife for over 50 years. As you can tell, I'm a long time Bee Gees fan!!!

The Bee Gees wrote over 1,000 songs. At one point , they outsold the Beatles..there were 4 brothers , who grew up in poverty, but they had talent , ambition and each other. Barry's signature falsetto was discovered quite by accident, and led much to the group's success. Robin had a great voice too, and Maurice was fantastic with multiple instruments. One of the greatest groups in history.

Well, there were likely retakes. Though the video makes it look that way, this isn't live. @oregonchick76 Жыл бұрын
You almost can't pick a BAD BeeGees song because they're guaranteed to have good melodies and harmonies regardless. I recently learned that "Jive Talkin'" was a comeback hit for them -- disco had become all the rage and people wanted dance music more that the tender ballads they were known for. They were trying to come up with a new album and maybe a new sound or style while in Miami. They kept driving across Biscayne Bay on the I-95 bridge, and somebody noticed the car made a strange rhythmic sound and joked, "That's just our drive talkin'." They turned that sound into the rhythm and bass line of the song. They retooled the lyrics and wound up with their first #1 hit since "More Than a Woman," and it gave them a push into their disco sound, where they obviously thrived.

I'm also 66 years young like you, Kathy. The 1970s to me, had the very best music of all time. I grew up with disco and rock and thanks to alcohol I was able and more than willing to dance the night away. IMHO, the Bee Gees are without any doubt THE BEST. Second place is another Brit, Elton John. When I'm depressed, just listening to the Bee Gees takes all of my worries away. Disco. More precisely, 1970s disco. When I tell people what my favorite music is they sometimes roll their eyes and ask, "wait, really"? LOL. Just because I was an Iowa farm boy in no way, shape or form meant that I liked eew, country music! I absolutely can't stand any of it to this day. BTW, I'll be sober 27 years this July.

If you look into their discography, you’ll be amazed at the songs they wrote, not only for themselves, but for many other hit makers too. You asked what happened to them… sadly, twins Robin (left) and Maurice (right) have passed away. Barry (center) is still alive and writing music.
