Palace of Gorzanów A unique pearl of architecture regains its former splendor

The sensation was the discovery of the original 17th-century polychromy, just after dismantling stucco for maintenance. So the palace in Gorzanów received a second life.
Since the end of the war, for almost seventy years, successive tenants and private owners have destroyed the pearl of the Silesian Renaissance and turned the Palace of Gorzanów into a tragic ruin. A few years ago, the roofs and ceilings lay on the ground floor, the main building was a step away from the construction disaster, the tower was falling.
Today, everyone is surprised how it was possible to let this happen, because the beauty and uniqueness of the aristocratic residence of the Austrian Herbersteins has been known for a long time. A hectare of wall decorations, two thousand meters of wooden polychromy, three hundred meters of unique stuccowork, over one hundred unheard-of in Poland, mysterious emblems, plus a unique court theater and the oldest secular Baroque park with a rotunda pavilion from 1640.
And yet to the rescue you had to wait until the last moment. Thanks to the Gorzanów Palace Foundation, the building was reconstructed. It started with roofs and repairing the tower, then the clock was started. The ceilings that were piled up or cut into fuel were restored with the help of old technologies, and the construction of the main building was strengthened and the chapel was renovated.
This monumental residential and defensive complex, maintained in the style of the South German Renaissance, is one of the most valuable objects of this type in the entire south-western Poland. There is a good chance that in a few years we will be able to admire it in all its glory, and already today you can see newly renovated rooms with beautiful decorations that are almost completely forgotten and completely ruined.
