Poltergeist was the first movie I ever saw in a theatre. Even 35 years later, it is still my favourite by far. The score alone stands the test of time, and perfectly embodies the atmosphere of 80s suburban life, but with very subtle supernatural undertones. Kudos to Jerry Goldsmith, a masterful composer and a perfect choice for this film.

To me, this is a gentle, peaceful tune and it's very surprising coming at the end of a horror film. Instead of a scary or creepy theme when the credits roll, we get a nice little composition that conveys peace and optimism, saying "no matter how bad things were, it's all over now and everything is OK." (It would be a suitable song to hear when my life's over!)

Listen up everyone just don't tell those who like to go to the off sales to get in there spirits that spirits aren't real. Without those spirits it's no fun. But there's others who have experienced what none of us ever want to. Who are we to say that they didn't go through such. Was we there with them when it all did go on. No we wasn't. Many true mediums and spirit ghost hunters will state it very clearly to believe in what they went through you have to be there where its happining. And they are registered professionals for going into old buildings. Taken other experienced professionals also registered with them. The film The Exorcist was based on real true life events. And in real life it was a young boy who was possessed not a girl. Many real life cases of possession was kept very well hidden and forgotten. When people play around with wedgie boards they are opening doors to whp knows where and who knows what. Putting out a welcome doormat. People messing around with what never should not be disturbt. Just because we never experienced it. That doesn't mean it's not real. And when I said the last house I went to all the ghosts ran away and this house is clean I was being funny.

Thank you for posting this. My mother passed away almost 5 years ago and this was one of her favorite movies. Me and my two sisters grew up on 80's horror movies and even though poltergeist was a horror movie it was basically a family movie for us. Whenever we'd watch it we would always listen to this song at the end....hearing this song brought back memories of my family in the living watching poltergeist and my mom still being alive. It is such a beautiful movie , great cast , saw it first of many times aged seven growing up in the UK , but the sequel did not add up to much , some movies should not have sequels . Also tragedy with this movie Heather o Rourke who played the daughter in the movie , five years after the movie was made she very sadly passed away . The theme is so beautiful . I cannot wait to see it again many more times .

Each time I come back after years to hear this song that sounds like if it was performed by the angels, I can only remember Heather and her heartedly Big Sister. When I was a child, I enjoyed this movie so very much, being only scared at the clown scene, and ejoying the very rest of the movie with the little girl's innocent reactions to the poltergeists and how brave Domi was. After years of becoming adult I took my little sister to watch this movie, and the same story repeated with her. We both, as kids, loved Heather and laughed with her acting during the 3 movies she participated in before passing away. Today I came back here after 8 years and me with my sister can only tell to Heather and Domi: "You will never be forgotten. Wherever you girls are, we let you know that each time this melody is heard, you sing again and are more live than ever, specially in all our hearts".

nothing scary in this piece. I believe that this music was created to be as good memories after all the tragic that has left the family, that laughing part in the end is a good example to my example. Its being made with love towards the movie goers. Truly a Spielberg production.

well,spielberg kindda is like the director of that first movie since on every scenes spielberg directed Hooper on his visions for every shot,anyways producer and director's job is almost alike .the reason why spielberg only landed as a producer is that E.T. was under universal and POLTERGEIST was under MGM and these two movies under two different movie company cannot compete with the same director,booth these guys are anazing in their jobs

I’m 21 I first watched this when I was pretty little and there was always something about this movie I continued to love it through growing up and i still watch it pretty often. It’s so incredible. I was lucky enough to go see it in theaters for the 40th anniversary since i wasn’t alive when it came out but that was really special to me :,). I just watched it on my vhs player last night and it really hit me it always makes me cry it’s such a special story. Amazing actors and just everything about it is perfection I’ll always love this movie. My all time favorite horror movie ❤️🇺🇸🙏

I was born in 1998, but I'm so thankful my parents brought me up with classic 80's movies like this, rather then just new ones. I remember my dad let my brother and I watch all these horror movies when we were young despite my mums liking. I can still remember I was 7 and my mum came home from work to find My dad, my younger brother who was 5 at the time and I watching Chucky, She was so pissed. She eventually just gave up and let us watch horror movies. 😂
