The Beyerdynamic definitely has better mic gain (it has more mics after all). Not sure if the recording sounds more "natural". It is well known psychoacoustically that louder audio typically sounds "better". I agree mic quality is somewhat a decisive factor, but it's not the only one. Anyway, in a smaller meeting where we can place the Poly closer to the participants, I would assume Poly is not faring that bad. One important thing that reviews with synthetic recording like this can't factor is the meeting software involved: MS Teams and Zoom for example auto-adjust the microphone volume, for all we know the software will increase Poly's mic volume and decrease Beyer's mic volume, so to the other end both sounds similar, assuming low noise. In addition, I would not discount that much the "soft" features of a speakerphone. The Poly has more intuitive control, Teams+Zoom integration (mute in the device == mute in the program, visible from the other side), as well as longer battery life. Finally, the speaker quality matters as well. It's not apparent on a review video, but in a long meeting (2h+) ears fatigue is real, especially whilst hearing sibilance-heavy/compressed audio. Beyerdynamic's speaker is not low quality by any means, but Poly's bass response does help make the voice from the other side sounds fuller.

Hello Markus, does the mute button work with Teams/Zoom when connected by the laptop internal bluetooth (not the BT dongle) on the Beryerdynamic Space? I know that this is an unresolved problem with the Poly Sync units. Thank you.

I believe it does work, but it doesn't indicate it on Zoom. I'll check the next time I use it in a meeting!

Great review. Have you noticed on the Poly that if you are playing music, the device tends to shut off after about 4 or 5 hours. It doesn’t matter if you are using the battery or if it is plugged in. Also there is no setting I have found that changes this “feature”.

My mom is hard of hearing, can i use the Beyerdynamic to help her hear her phone calls better? Also, can I take the speaker to different rooms when a call for her comes in? And can I just use my Pixel Pro phone to set up and go...or do I also need a laptop to setup? Thank you and awesome review!

Both devices work with a smartphone natively. The range is also pretty good. I often use the Space at maximum volume, and it's not super loud.

It’d great if the speaker tests would be done with live conference calls. I bought the Jabra speaker, very expensive, but the speaker is not that good in loud environments like a classroom where there’s no sound proof windows.

Could try sennheiser BTD 600 or Creative BT-W4 Bluetooth Dongle to pair those speakers exclude dongle. For my experience, Calisto 7200 and SPACE work very well with them.

Have you ever tried using the Amazon Echo Studio as a speakerphone with a Zoom call, connecting it to a laptop, not a phone.

I haven't tried the Echo. I wouldn't be very keen to bring an always-on mic to my home.

From what I can see it's still there. But you can also get it on Amazon!
