thanks very much for posting this, I'm working on a hoop house and live in a high wind area. The first end wall I put of of regular plastic got destroyed, looking to build a poly carbonate wall next which will hopefully take the wind better
@tunnelvisionhoops4 күн бұрын
Happy to hear the video may be useful to your future efforts! Yes, the polycarbonate double walled end wall covers can handle wind much better, but you have to make sure you have more framing behind the polycarbonate so it can be attached appropriately (which will further help defend it against wind). Good luck and thanks for watching!

This is just what I needed today. Bulding a 76x30 and about to start end walls so this is very helpful. My end walls have a garage door and a personal door, do you have any videos building out those in the end walls? No worries either way, great tutorial, very easy to follow and all good info!
@tunnelvisionhoops10 ай бұрын
Thanks for the kind words, and for watching. We don’t currently have any videos on the exact set up you have, but we do have a video on framing end walls out of steel, and installing personnel doors; those videos might help for what you have to do.

Great video. Very informative. Does most end cap typically allow space for two layers of poly and the wiggle wire?
@tunnelvisionhoops Жыл бұрын
I would assume most reputable greenhouse suppliers would use end-cap channel that can fit two layers of plastic and the wire. Ours does, and it seems like others would likely agree that this is important.

Loved the video. Will the structure sink over time to seal the gap at the bottom of the polycarbonate endwalls?
@tunnelvisionhoops Жыл бұрын
The structure should not sink, but earth, gravel, etc. could be added along the perimeter to create a better seal / to bring the earth up to the bottom of the polycarbonate. Thanks for watching!

You cut the poly flush with the end bow then applied the end cap. If you cut the poly flush with the end bow it doesn't seem long enough to fit into the end cap channel. You would cut the poly slightly higher than the end bow so it would fit into the end cap channel. What are your thoughts and am I missing something.
@tunnelvisionhoops11 күн бұрын
Good question, and to a point you are correct. That said, the way these specific extrusions are made [and by specific extrusions, I just mean the end-cap channel that is designed to both hold pliable plastic AND cover the polycarb ends] its dog ear does not extend super far downward. This means that it will be (and I know from making attempts) extremely difficult to accurately cut the polycarbonate just a little high, and still be able to work it into the end-cap channel. It ends up being too tall in some places, and still short in other places, etc. This is one of the reasons the metallic looking duct-tape is used to bridge the gap from the polycarbonate to the bow. It is to cover things up there and seal them since the end-cap extrusion going over it is more of a "roof" over the top of the polycarbonate, than it is fully containing it. THAT BEING SAID, if you want to get something that truly covers a few inches at the top, it could be better to purchase an aluminum "L" flashing and install that at the same exact time as you install a single poly lock channel. These would be two pieces (one for the "L" and one for the poly lock) so it would be a little annoying to install, but the aluminum "L" flashing has a nice aluminum clean look to it, and if you hold it on the end-bow at the same time as the single poly lock channel it all holds together all right once you get the first screw in. If you are in the market for the above, and keen to look further, shoot us an email at info (at) tunnelvisionhoops (dot) com and I can send pics and pricing for that material.

Can it be installed with the ribs horizontally? I have wood studs not spaced right.
@tunnelvisionhoops Жыл бұрын
Manufacturers of the polycarb state that it should NOT be. It is important to have the slots vertically oriented to allow condensation to leave the polycarbonate. I would recommend adding some horizontal framing to provide additional attachment locations for Double H channel. The only time we do polycarb horizontally like you describe is for small strips of it that get installed along the baseboards. Thanks for the comment, and for watching.

I don’t think any big box stores carry them so I’d have to recommend your closest Ag supply store OR you can shoot us a list of what you need (and your zip code) and we can get you a quote with a shipping estimate. While we do sell 8mm twin wall polycarbonate, shipping costs can vary due to their size. Here is our contact us page, if you want to send us a message: www.tunnelvisionhoops.com/contact-us/

Just found your KZbin channel. Long story short: I was leasing my land to a hemp grower for CBD. They went bankrupt and I now own 11 greenhouses. They are in pretty bad shape. I've been going through doing "emergency" repairs to keep them operational. I ordered some pipe clamps from you as I am repairing the roll up sides which brings me to my question: Where can I find some plastic repair tape? Thanks in advance. (FYI I also have a KZbin Channel - But it's mostly for my family)

Wow, that is a wild story! Hopefully you can use the structures for something. Here is a link to our poly repair tape if you still need some: www.tunnelvisionhoops.com/poly-repair-tape-various-sizes/. Best of luck, thanks for sharing your KZbin Channel (I'll take a peep), and thanks for watching!
