So nice to see you put it up! I really want to try and build one myself! Thanks for a lovely workshop at DIEM - this is Daniel with the floppy drive and arduino sequencer/sampler. ;)

Nice work. but i think Diamond Stylus could be better. ordinary needle can't cut high sounds. You using to big speaker ( i think it was bass speaker) I prefer using coil from tweter or using mid-range speaker from old TV. Right now I started my lathe project. i have a box of blank vinyl disc. Direct drive turntable ( Technics ) and parts from old printer ( paint cartridge slider ) for driving the cutting arm. Sory for my bad english.

I'm a fan of vinyl records, and I'm also trying to build a homemade phonograph engraver. The head recorder that you see in the video, it is difficult to build?

Awesome project! Which stylus you use? I'm presently building one and I use a Staedtler compass stylus! Did you carve your stylus yourself to get one like studios? Congrats! Thanks for sharing!

Do the two screws at the bottom of the cutter head fix it to that golden strip? If so, how does this not kill the sound transfer? Or is it on a bearing

One thing i learned it also has to do with, is that todays turntables don't have a corrective EQ circuit adjust for that,, so that's where records have to but cut with with an EQ curve having all the low frequencies turned down quite enough and all the high frequencies all set quite a bit higher than normal. Then when played back on todays turntable the frequencies will play back all sounding at normal levels. Any pereson building their own machine to cut their own records, will have to do some experimenting with that, in order to find exactly how ,how much lower to set the low frequencies and exactly how much higher to set all the mid range and high frequencies A real good needle on turntable also does help in putting out all the high frequencies..

Are you embossing or cutting? What are you using for a cutting needle.. looks like a regular phonograph needle.

Hello, could you tell me how your process of moving the needle arm is? I noticed that you use a bearing system, but I did not understand where the engine goes and the reduction.
