LOL, being America they test it for gunfire. Hasn't been an issue for me so far in British Columbia...eh. I've had two and it really helped with the head buffeting on my 2006 Vstrom. By fluke the 1st owner had also put one on my second bike, a used 2015 FJ-09 (now called Tracer 900). Vey happy with the windscreen. It's bounced many a pebble/stone at 120+ km/hr. Polycarbonate is also what my high end prescription work glasses are made of.

I tried leaving honest feedback on their website for 2 windscreens I purchased and they didn't publish either of them (even after contacting them by email). If you only find 100% positive reviews on their site, that's why. Because of that, I wouldn't buy from them again. Good quality, but the filtered reviews don't allow a range of reviews so potential customers know if it is likely to work for them or not. Not the best of practices.

If you have a problem or complaint, contact Customer Service to get it resolved. Or go on a motorcycle forum and badmouth us. Yep, polycarbonate is definitely significantly tougher than regular acrylic and fairly more so in relation to impact modified acrylic. With that said, even impact modified acrylic is significantly less expensive than P.C., and you can get thicker pieces of I.M.A. for similar to slightly less price of thinner P.C., and it will provide protection against most typical scenarios. It's not a black and white situation, but somewhat relative to the thickness used and the price differentials. And unless P.C. has special coatings, it is much less UV (and solvent) resistant, and will break down more in the sun over time as compared to I.M.A. And then, unless it has other special coatings (which add a lot to the price), it's much easier to scratch than I.M.A. So there is some trade off besides just cost. I will be making my own windshield, and have done a fair amount of research, and have come to the conclusion that a thicker piece of I.M.A. should be ok except for the most extreme of situations. I will not be doing highway riding with this vehicle and 55/60mph will be the highest speeds I ever try to get to. Average speeds will range between 35 to 50 most of the time. But since it's also a winter vehicle, I need the windshield, that and it increases fuel economy a bit. If going for a highway and/or much faster vehicle, I'd probably would have gone with the bit to much more expensive P.C. instead (depending on the coatings or lack). All this to basically say, is that I.M.A. is not useless and pointless. It has it's place and can serve in many riding situations, and does have some superior properties to uncoated P.C., besides cost, though it is weaker and less durable as regards tensile and impact strengths at the same thickness of P.C.

All of our polycarbonate windshields are hardcoated for extreme scratch resistance, plus they have 10-year UV protection.
