17:45 you can also hold ctrl while grabbing to enable the snapping temporarily, it also works if you've already enabled snapping and want to disable it temporarily while moving something

This technique would work really well for a War of the Worlds style tripod! Huge fan of your videos, it makes the end result so much more impressive when you can see how it came about. I guess it feels less like some black magic that you couldn't possibly achieve and highlights more the actual work and talent that goes into it

Polyfjord great tutorial but at the point of duplicating the bracket clamps you could have used array modifier and follow curve modifier it would be easier instead of manually adding bracket clamps

Add poles for more IK control. There’s also a rigify advanced tentacle added in blender 4 but that takes things in a different direction.

I love to see your thumbnail or to watch your result and then just try it myself before watching! I have made all the "links" for the tentacles our of two triangles. But a triangle with three suction cups on it just looks like those razors that dads used to have :D

you can fake caustics with just a plain under the light source. put a noise texture and a color ramp on the Alpha and adjust the roughness down detail up and scale down then add a light under the plane adjust the color and brightness now just animate either the detail value on the noise texture or swap it yo 4D and animate the W value it will render pretty fast as well
