The T7 has really made an impact on the sub/around 2000 dollar bike market any videos on this impactful bike will sure to garner lots of attention. What I think would be a useful and very popular video for those joining/or stepping up the mountain bike community would be to do a sensible affordable set of upgrade that significantly lightens and improves the bike as I think as stock its a little heavy. The recon that is comes with is already rated as a XC fork, and so given the bike's target/actual audience one of the lighter but more robust XC forks such as the RockShox Reba, because that's what people will want is something realistic to aspire to now we know from this video what the approximate maximum weight savings will be. Mine came with Schwalbe Hansd Dampf 29x2. weight was 920 each which is lighter than the versus wheels which are 1050.

So they’re a 28H carbon hoop laced with Sapim CX Ray bladed spokes to sealed bearing hubs. You have 612 points of engagement at the freehub with 3.5 degrees of engagement. The new wheel and tire setup accounted for 3.35lb of weight being shaved off the bike which is insane. Session gives you 2 year warranty on carbon wheels. They retail for 1300, but you get 10% off that if you use coupon code CURECYCLING. That’s the most I can tell you for now, and I can generate more long term data as I ride them more. 👍

Depends tbh, bc for some components I went straight to the top. Like my fork and wheels would normally be featured on bikes that are 7-10k whereas the drivetrain is more like something off a $2.8-3.5k bike. That’s the beautiful part about building it up yourself. You can highlight the aspects that matter the most to you. In general, though, I’d say you’d be hard pressed to find a bike at 5k this sweet. You may get a carbon frame bike at that price, but carbon frame doesn’t matter much to me. Thanks for watching!

I always thought that the current trend in the mountain bike industry of dower (some might say mature) colors, with the odd occasional standout paint design design (on one of the pricier models) was too conservative and boring. I think Polygon has got it right with their nice paint jobs on all of their reasonably priced cycles. They make the owners want to get on the bike and ride it.

I have the option of buying the Giant Stance 29 2 (2021), and the Polygon Siskiu T7. The Giant is at my local shop so I can personally see it, find the perfect size, and it is cheaper. I found the Polygon online but I obviously can't find the perfect size. I will just use my height. The giant is $150 cheaper and is 4 pounds lighter. I was told by a few people that overall the polygon is a better bike (not using price just material and build). Both are pretty much the same overall. I really cannot choose which one I should get.

The stance still uses a wack quick release rear end…that alone rules it out for me. You can’t build it up like you can a T7. Nice vid. Quick question on the Pike upgrade. You linked a 140mm 51mm offset Pike, and I've also found a Pike on Amazon with 150mm travel / 42mm offset. The RS Recon that came with my T7 has an offset of 42mm. Am I better off getting the Pike with 10mm more travel (150) with matching offset to the stock T7 (42mm) or should I buy the one you linked at 140mm/51mm offset? I think I can reduce the travel from 150 to 140, but I cannot change the offset to match the T7's stock 42mm fork. Appreciate any info.
@JaredRMorgan3 жыл бұрын
That’s a great question. Personally, I kept the 140 travel bc I thought the headtube angle was ideal, and wasn’t certain how making the bike more slack would pan out in the climbs as it would also slacken the seattube angle. As for offset, technically it is favorable to keep the same offset so as to maintain the geometry the designers had in mind, but I also know many bike “experts” who say you won’t feel a lick of difference between 42 and 51. An air spring swap could also bring the 150 with 42 offset down to 140. That would be the most ideal setup, but that will cost more and also take some work. If you do decide to do the 150 with 42 route, here is the link for that one so you can still support my channel: amzn.to/3z75ldA Appreciate you stopping by!

@@JaredRMorgan Thanks for the info! Would you consider it worth it to upgrade from the Recon to a Pike ultimate on this bike? A lot of people online seem to say 'just buy a better bike instead of upgrading', but I've noticed other bike brands sell new $3500 bikes that STILL have a Recon. Is it worth it to spend $900 fora fork on a $2000 bike? Seems like the T7 has a nice and modern frame and it is worth it to upgrade.
@JaredRMorgan3 жыл бұрын
The recon to the pike ultimate is night and day!!! I consider forks and wheels to be forever mods that you can bring from bike to bike. It’s absolutely worth it in the sense that if and when you do get another bike that again has a recon, you can replace it with a legit fork. The recon is heavy and divey in comparison to the high end forks. You’ll shed weight, get more support, and still have a plush experience.

The T7 is definitely worthy of the upgrade, and that’s why I did it. The fork swap brought it into a whole different dimension.

Hi . Currently I’m riding a Polygon T7 M size 29er. I seen your video. As the current stock fork is 140mm travel, I would like to upgrade it to a 160mm travel fork to make it more Enduro oriented. Is it advisable to do it? I would like to try it because I don’t want to spend more cash to buy a Polygon N9. Please advise. Thank you.
@JaredRMorgan2 жыл бұрын
I would not recommend that at all. 1. Geometry will be impacted negatively. 2. It will increase stress on welds. 3. I believe you can get a 140 fork to be supportive enough to handle most anything. Rather than adding travel, consider a higher end 140 fork where you can modify the characteristics of the mid stroke and the bottom out progression.
