Thanks for the detailed tutorial! I had kind of given up on trying to make polymer clay pieces because most of my attempts were not coming out very well! After watching this, I may try again! Oh and the alcohol ink called baja blue is pronounced baha blue with an h sound! ☺Thanks again! ❤

Hehe yes, I’ve had a few people let me know about the cheeky “h” 🙈 haha thank you! Def give it a go again, textures are such an easy way to make your pieces look fancy without too much effort! 😊

Thanks for the video! I’m just starting my clay journey and am learning so much from your channel. Happy to return a tiny bit of the favour - the j in Baja is more of an English h.

It’s a wonder anybody could ever learn English lol thank goodness it was my first language. And right now my only language lol I do know very very little Spanish even though I took it in high school. I keep telling my kids who have children that they need to start drilling it into their head now because being bilingual, or any amount of languages, is incredibly helpful. Especially Spanish and Vietnamese in America. Particularly where I live.

Jacquard named the alcohol inks with Spanish words, places, etc. So Baja is pronounced "Ba-ha". I agree that multilingualism is a very good thing. I was raised by Germans, went through schooling in English, living in a French province. But sadly, no Spanish!

I don’t know if you’ll read this but when the alcohol ink is sticky you could add some metallic leave and it would stick to it… it could be a nice mix of textures

Not sure if this was covered yet…when sealing with uv resin, do you seal just to top or do you do the sides and back?
@myclayco
@myclayco 4 ай бұрын
We normally seal just on top unless we’re creating something like a faux crystal. But normal earrings just the top 😊

Thank you for all the good advice! I have a question about the thickness gages- when you move from the initial rolling the clay to the tile do you choose a thicker or thinner Guage when rolling over the texture mat on top of the clay and by how much? TY
@myclayco
@myclayco 6 ай бұрын
Glad you’ve found it helpful! I normally start with 2mm ones, then put the texture on and go to 3mm. So thicker gauge second. Most texture mats I have are about 1mm-2mmish so I find this is enough to get a good imprint depth 😊

Love the video and thank you for all the techniques on your channel. And absolutely no hate in this because we’re all playing a game of luck on what unusual words we’ve heard spoken versus only seen on labels, but as someone who grew up near Baja Mexico, every time you said Baja I cracked up all over again. Hilarity.

Can you tell me what are the differences of cernit, souffle, premo clays? How many hours need to bake and what temperature?
@myclayco
@myclayco Ай бұрын
Soufflé and premo are both Sculpey brand clays and are both great for jewellery, along with other things like modelling. Cernit brand is also great for jewellery and other things. They certainly have their own properties but they are all polymer clays - so it’s kind of like McDonalds or Hungry Jacks (or Burger King if you’re in the US!) if you know what I mean. I would just try a little of each and see which one you prefer working with (or we work with all of them!). Each polymer clay brand will have its own directions but we bake all of these ones at 130c for about 30-60 mins 😊

is claro extender the same as blending solution?
@myclayco
@myclayco 5 ай бұрын
I think they are similar, but may be slightly different 🤔 I use isopropyl alcohol as a blending solution and it dilutes it a bit more than claro extender seems to.

@@myclayco I noticed that somebody had said it already. But that was after I had already put the comment up. And I thought there would be no harm in leaving it in case somebody else was curious. I often say things wrong too lol they do say the English language is the hardest one to learn. I’m often left. Scratching my head wondering how some of this stuff even makes sense. Like I said, it’s no wonder people struggle and it’s a wonder that anybody ever learns it. Lol especially one who didn’t grow up learning English. By the way, I can’t remember if I already did this or not to very pretty technique for you. I’ve been using some alcohol inks. The other day I was at my sisters house and she has a pool and she had her different testing things out. They were little bottles that looked exactly like alcohol inks. I asked her if that’s what they were and then I immediately realized what they actually were. Then I laughed and said you know you’re an artist, when you see that and automatically assume they are alcohol inks lol I took a picture because it was amazing at how much they did look like alcohol ink bottles. 😂
