How to find the turning points of a polynomial function

To find the turning points, exactly, requires a bit of calculus. Typically, that's not taught in Algebra 2 or pre-calc. But you'll take the derivative of the function, set it equal to zero (because the slope at a turning point is zero), and solve for x.
