My parents listened to Of Montreal a lot when I was a kid and I’m recently rediscovering all their music. I’m only just now learning that Kevin identifies as non-binary and genderqueer and it feels amazing to find out someone I grew up listening to has had similar experiences to me. I love the video and Kevin is killing it in that outfit!

I wish everyone would chill about Kevin's ever evolving style. He's an artist; experimentation is part of the process, his music isn't made to appease everyone. I really don't think Kevin's music has ever been about appealing to the widest array of people. Of Montreal casts relatable experiences with reality under a surreal, color-filled light that can have quite an enchanting feel. If you're not enchanted by a new artistic choice, then you don't have to purchase the album. But leaving negative comments is kinda sad. Also, what do you expect from a musician who is constantly touring & releasing new music? Loving everything he comes out with would be very unlikely, but discrediting Kevin as a musician or artist bc you have a different taste is small minded af.

There's truth to your statement, because I had always heard previous Of Montreal stuff and didn't really care for it (this was years ago). I stumbled upon this new song and the other new song released thus far, and I'm in love. I went back and listened to the past couple of albums and they really grew on me. So, there's going to be people turned off by this new stuff, but a lot of new fans like me!

I LOVE Of Montreal. But I do want to state that this kick-ass track, I feel stems from an original piece by Saäda Bonaire ‘You Could Be More As You Are’ which I believe is from 1982. I haven’t spent time digging in this vid. thread to see if anyone else even knows Saäda Bonaire’s music or if Kevin pays tribute to them out there in the world. Nonetheless, I hear them in this track and it’s lovely if in fact this song is a tribute/inspiration for Of Montreal’s approach to the track.
