hi alison and all here..I have made the diagonal blanket which looked lovely, the only thing is it come off the loom shaped diagonal.?? anyone got any clue to why this happend x

Hi there I have watched this KZbin video, and I am very inspired to try something like this. I’m not sure where to purchase the type of loom you were using that is shaped in a square. And I’d like to make something that’s big enough for a crib blanket is that even possible ? Do you move it down off the loom or do you need a big loom? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

What an absolute Delight I don't know if I have ever seen anyone else make these types of things other than my Grandmama I have many looms produced in the 60 's made out of plastic . Her early ones granddaddy made out of wood but I can remember her sitting and making these designs we used these for placemats and for lovely table runners and things like that as I said it is a delight and thank you so much for reminding me of my past and my history

Oh, thank you so glad you found something to do. I too had to adjust to tutorials as I can no longer make or mass produce all the cards I used to make due to arthritis. This way I can help others learn something new or just expand on what they already know. Doing tutorials I can take my time then edit them. That's why on some I have 3 different sleeves of clothing when you see my hands because I have had to do some over 3 days hahhah. But as long as I am able I will keep going. xx

A like minded soul Alison. Somehow i never learned to be idle; the penance being arthritis in the joints. Am recovering from a replacement in mt left thumb and waiting for same op in right hand. Show my occupational therapist today and she is adding to my list if 'exercise'! Im going to attempt making a frame with screws instead of nails. Had a thought that if i can tie some if the edges, i could join them up to make a larger piece? Any advice? Oh, a question please. .. i notice you have yr frame on a stand, are you able to turn the frame a full 360 to work underneath or do remove the frame for this?

It is just the sides of an old wooden towel rail, I removed the rails drilled a hole in the middle of my frame and bolted them together. It's very rustic but it works. There is a lady in my craftytwunts called Rose Hill her husband makes stands and are very reasonable priced if you can't make one.

My hubby made me a 60x48 frame, he used dowels instead of nails. I have made 2 blankets so far. One pom pom and one diagonal. Both turned out great. Going to try the twisted one next. They are very heavy, but my adult children love them to wrap up in on the sofa. They wash great in a pillow case and tumble dry.

Hi Alison, why do you say the blankets are for decoration only? I have recently found your channel and your blankets are stunning. xx
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel7 жыл бұрын
They were 1st intended to decorate the top cover of a baby's pram. As the pom poms have no guarantee to not come off if children pull them Now the NON pom pom blankets are becoming more popular and as long as they are tied in tight and secure all around the edges twice they are much safe,r so people are beginning to make bigger and lighter ones to put in cots, prams, cribs and as comforters but only the non pom pom ones.

Ive never seen a blanket like this. This is interesting. I love your voice! I have an older lady friend I have been friends with for years who lives in Pennsylvania but is from Scotland. I met her on a game site many years ago and have actually gone and seen her twice! I could sit and listen to her or you for hours! It was so funny the first time I went to see her because I live In the south and have a very country accent and she kept saying ' I cant understand you! Could you please learn to speak?" And her husband who is not from Scotland but is from Pennsylvania said to her "Look whos talking!" It was very funny and I kept imitating her voice but she couldn't imitate mine ha ha! Anyway I enjoyed your video!

You are so welcome. I know exactly how you feel I too have arthritis. Mine is in my shoulder and knuckles. I do the blankets in a demo size as my shoulder can't handle the big ones now. But the small ones are great for car seats, doll prams and pets just love to sleep on them too. The ones with no pom poms are quicker and easier on arthritic joints. (no pom poms to cut) You could try the floating tea cups they are easy and the book folding all tutorials in my channel. Lots of the ladies in my craft group do the book folding too as it helps keep their fingers exercise. Come join us on facebook. Absolutely gorgeous plus I love your voice....it brings back memory's when I visit Scotland to see my Aunt. I had in the early 80's a loom that you made the same thing, but you only could put a small amount of yarn in one colour on...so in the end when you finished tying in all directions the front had rows of flowers. You could knot in a different colour giving a look-center flower. It was a plastic red loom. I'm really loving your way a lot. I looking forward to making this type of loom and getting to it.

The end result looks lovely, but what caught my attention about this video is that the manufacturing technique seems to be such that there is no risk of any threads breaking. That means, if a dumb robot were to be programmed to use the same kind of technique, then the yield of the production might be really nicely high. Making such a robot might be a truly fine exercise for the makerbot community, specially given that that manufacturing technique does not require expensive, special purpose, mechanics and, as I already said, the end result is truly nice.

Thank you very much. I have to promote it a lot harder as someone uploaded all my tutorials and tried to pass them off as theirs. That channel has been banned but not before it severely damaged all my ratings. So I have to try and boost my tutorial watch time, likes and subscribers.
