Pompei

Pompei, la città sepolta da una coltre di ceneri e lapilli durante l'eruzione del Vesuvio nel 79 d.c. e diventata nel 1997 patrimonio dell'UNESCO.
Almost two thousand years ago (79 AD) powerful eruption of Mount Vesuvius buried in volcanic ash the Roman cities of Pompeii and killed thousands of people.
UNESCO listed the ruins of these cities as World Heritage sites: "the impressive remains of the towns of Pompei and Herculaneum and their associated villas, buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in AD 79, provide a complete and vivid picture of society and daily life at a specific moment in the past that is without parallel anywhere in the world."
