I visited Pompeii on Dec. 1979 at the time Pope John Paul II was one year in office and saw him at the Vatican giving his world address at the balcony during Christmas. We had a tour guide showing us around but it is best to go by yourself and absorb the ruins like this video. The weather that day when I was there was exactly the same as in this video, clear, mild winds and blue skies. Just a beautiful day to go through Pompeii and build up a appetite for a nice evening dinner in one of the many restaurants in Naples.

I read about Pompeii in children's magazine "Kumar" in Marathi language in Maharashtra state in India, in 1972. Since then I am fascinated by the event, city and remains of the city. I have not yet been able to visit Europe and Pompeii. But one day I will! The video is beautiful and the silence keeps my curiosity alive. The occasional titles are apt. It is one of the oldest known tragedy of human civilisation that has proof with remains. And it is created by nature and not by humans through wars or genocides. Many questions arise to know more about this unfortunate tragedy. The city is so beautiful. Even more beautiful than some modern cities. My prayers for those who lost lives in Pompeii.

This was fascinating. Thank you. I've always had a weird obsession with Pompeii ever since I was a child. And volcanoes. I would dream about them. I'd love to come there myself someday. Feel the spirits of the people that were there before. I know I sound nuts. But this calls to me somehow. I found the Macellum the most interesting. You can almost see the people hawking their wares and the crowds of people buying them. All the noise. The smells.

What month and year was this? I just toured a small portion of Pompeii and I would have liked to have seen much more. Thank you for your video.

Great video!!!!! I really love Pompei, and with your videos I can visit it once more! Did you use a GoPro to make the movie? If yes would be great to remove some fisheye effect! Thanks for shooting!
@ProWalks6 жыл бұрын
Hey Paolo, Yeah I am using a Gopro for the walks. It is light weight and easy to walk with for a long time. The Gopro 5 has a Linear mode that takes out the fisheye effect but it crops a lot of the video. I could try taking out the fisheye effec in post processing though and see how it looks. Thanks for the feedback!

Would love to try myself, but i'd need the original file, GoPro out of the box, so I can use the remove fisheye effect using GoPro Studio! ;)

Great video. No annoying music or commentary. I've been there twice but the only part of the tour I've seen on this video was the forum. Everything else was new.

I always wanted to visit Pompeii during my younger days, but couldn't afford to fly to Italy. Now that I can afford it, I'm too old and infirm to make the trip. Thanks for this interesting tour.

What a steady hand, for the first time saw your shadow. Wow must be hard work but so worthwhile for all us watching. I love to watch them during my lunch break and escape! Thank you so Much!

Hey, you're welcome! Thanks for watching. I am filming with a Gopro which is lightweight and easy to carry around for a long time. My shoulders get a little sore after a full day of carrying it around but for the most part the walks are very enjoyable on my end as well. :)

I just wanted to say thank you for these videos. In trying times it was hard for many not to go outside. And your content makes it possible to see this world we live in. Utterly brilliant content.

Lol You just bump that guy right out of the way at the beginning?
@ProWalks6 жыл бұрын
Ha...No.. :) The gopro makes things look a little closer than they really are. I think I've only bumped into someone a few times.

Thanks I just learned about 4k walks. Yours is the first I took. I've been to Pompeii so this is nice memories like you are really there. Thanks for the captions. Nicely done

Only now learning about 4K walks? :) Well I'm glad to take you along. I posted up a new Pompeii 2020 walk a while ago that has closed captions instead of captions embedded into the video. I'm glad you enjoyed the walk. Thanks for watching.

What a fantastic video!!! It's truly a very wonderful walking tour that many tourists, including Italians, must know and experience this remarkable place. It's amazing how they have rebuilt and preserved the Pompeii ruins after so many centuries. It's a beautiful place...tho there's a possibility that Mt. Vesuvius, a big volcano, might wake up again and erupt in the future...maybe in a century or so. We wouldn't really know when.
