great film. it gives you such a real sense of the alien feeling the characters have in japan, as well as the disconnectedness they feel in their personal lives, and how they connect in such a soft and muted way.

I really love these bittersweet scenes now...after the Quake. I love Japan, its people, their best traditions...I weep for those I knew back in the day at Misawa Air Base, and wonder how they fared? I am so grateful for those in Hachinohe who decided to be my friends. Words fail.

Bill plays so well. Bob Harris is a perfect role for him. Since over 40 years Bob lives in a marriage and aspires a new live without saying it. He knows that he never would be unfaithful to adventure his live with kids. Charlotte is verdant and loves Bob without saying or really knowing it. I love this film. There are so many things which are unsaid, but which everyone knows.

The first time I saw this movie was in my English class and in the end I cried. Can you believe my classmates made fun of me for the next week or so? I was so pissed. This is a beautiful movie with a beautiful song. Lost in Translation + Trouble (Coldplay) = Perfection
