Otto needs to stop with the casual nonchalant style as if he's gods gift with that "if he loses its hes not that bothered cos he didn't go 100%" mindset. Annoying af and just disrespectful to opponents who put in the work. This is a competitive tournament not so pongfinity trickshot video ffs. I guess we know which he's best suited to.

I watched this and the previous game with Mikka, Alex was almost always ahead after the serve-return of serve. He earned many free points on his serve and was able to put the serve of both Mikka and Otto under pressure.

Yeah, his serves are pretty leathel, Otto returned them too high quite often, and even when he didn't Alex's attack on that third ball always was very good.

I couldn't say, that Otto didn't play this match like others. He had won one game, and he played the other games also not bad. But there is no so many shots in this and in the quartor-final.
@klassikerreview4170
@klassikerreview4170 2 жыл бұрын
As someone who used to play table tennis and watches a lot of it, I wonder what some people expect of Otto. He always plays in a calm way, that does not mean he is unmotivated. As far as the rest goes, he and Alex played quite similar in this game I think, they often looked for the third ball finishing blow (serve, recieve, attack), they attacked each others serve quite often to prevent that third ball attack, and their placements are both quite good. But in the end I think Alexes serves were harder to handle than ottos were for Alex and his Attacks were very fast and spinny. And of course Alex ist faster on his feet than Otto, and that plays a role, espacially if you are close in skill level otherwise. So clearly Otto did not lose for the lack of trying but because Alex was just better that day (and probably a bit overall). If I was Otto (and I am not, was never even remotely that good) I'd have tried to make more spinny topspins on Alexes serves if I decided to attack, instead of trying to end the rally on the second ball. Worked quite good for a few shots in his QF match. But that is just my idea, and I was one of the worse players on my team :D

Those backhand smashes attempts caused so many lost points for you. In quarterfinals as well. But in semis the opponent was much tougher. Respect for competing, keep up the good work. Overall, the Finnish championships doesn’t seem to be competitive. This guy is good, Mikka as well, Olah Benedek top-1 for a long time, but others are quite modest opponents.

Otto's playstyle always makes the game look deceptively low level. His relaxed posture and calm demeanor add to the effect. The reality is that he plays a close to the table style that relies on ball placement, reading the opponents shot correctly, and controlling the point with "defensive" shots. Very different to the two winged loopers that dominate the high level of pro play.
