Yeah that went as expected. As pointed out Dan is a slow and safe player, at no point in the match did he have even a little bit chance. Total control for Otto.
@thomasmaze91566 ай бұрын
Good analysis, I agree, but Dan being a slow and safe player does not mean he's inferior to Otto, it just means Otto's level is higher. IMHO, I think Otto is a lazy, indolent player, his level is amazing, but he could be far better. When I was a player, I hated losing to this type of player that gives you the feeling you have a chance to beat them.
I stopped watching after the first set, I had the impression that Otto was just bored.
@gfdggdfgdgf6 ай бұрын
@@Solomonsjc not inferior but if you want to have any chance against a player like Otto you have to put him under pressure, make him move around and must importantly not give him there. Dan hits the ball late which gives Otto all the time he needs to pick his shots.

@@_.Madness._ I mean, you got a point but, even if he contacted the ball from the bottom, the ball spin is the same, it's spinning upward, it's hard to not see Otto not hitting the ball a backspin and pulling his racket quickly without noticing

Dan is like me ... too much up in his head about doing the right technique instead of just flowing with whatever works. We need to loosen up our wrists and stop trying to force the body movement. There will be no transfer of power to the ball unless the timing and the relaxed power of whipping through the ball, no matter how much body you throw into the shot.

i think otto is forgiving beast or else he will ramp him out
@alk6726 ай бұрын
I don't understand how Dan manages to have zero power on all of his shots while also having a very limited amount of spin. You can't win in table tennis when you have to play a 10 shot rally instead of what should have been a third ball put-away every time.
@CalvinAytch6 ай бұрын
To be honest, playing safe and steady will get you a lot farther than you might think. But as you said, there's a certain level where you need to develop some penetrating power to get through your opponent because they will put it past you if you don't take the chance.
@alk6726 ай бұрын
@@CalvinAytch yeah of course, if you're starting out - sure you want to prioritize consistency and quality over power, but this dude is on a team and stuff, he has to be able to win points. All his shots are done with grunts as if he's putting power into them, but the ball barely moves. Like what the hell, how is it even real.
@Wally-H6 ай бұрын
Good player though Dan is, his game is a bit predictable and one-dimensional and that seems to find him out against quality players. He has a technically 'tidy' game but he's rarely going to catch you out with anything he does.
