We both absolutely loved the statues. The detail especially on their clothing was spectacular. Loved the drone footage of the bridge too. Architecturally it’s a great bridge and you caught it well on the drone 😊

I think the bushes with the pink flowers were Camellias. I’m not an expert so googled and it does say online that they are very popular in northern Portugal so I may be right! Those trees were also amazing. This journey has been really interesting and packed with lovely photography and interesting information. I sad that it’s probably coming to an end soon. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Sylvia thanks for that , not being gardeners we aren’t that clue up on the names of plants , we just live the look, colour and smells of these flowers. Thanks for comments about the Photography . There are quite a few VLOGS to come yet from possibly our favourite bit of the tour following the Camino de Santiago route . Thanks for watching and commenting best wishes Helen and Martin

According to legend, when the war-weary Romans first reached the River Lima they mistook it for the River Lethe, the river of forgetfulness and one of the five rivers of Hades. The soldiers, afraid that the water would cause them to lose all memory, refused to cross the river. The Roman commander, General Decimus Junius Brutus Callaicus, frustrated that the river was impeding his military campaign, Roman Soldiersrode across the river. Despite seeing their commander on the opposite bank of the river, the soldiers were not convinced. The General then began to call each of the men by name. The troops, astonished that their commander had retained his memories, crossed the river to join their fearless leader, their fears dispelled and their memories intact.

Are the flowers not Camellias? We have one in our garden which only ever produces 2 or 3 flowers every year, but in Spain and Portugal they produce prolific amounts of flowers. Could be wrong though… What a fabulous town to visit..proof is in the pudding that great things come in little packages. Another excellent vlog Helen and Martin 😍

2:30 - Just a small correction: Ponte de Lima got its charter in 1125, not 1165. However, it's not the oldest official town (vila) in Portugal, that title belongs to São João da Pesqueira, whose charter dates back to 1110. 🙂

Having only had our small motor home since November 21 we have not taken it out of the U.K. yet and worry about the process etc now especially with our little dog also called Poppy

Honestly it is easier here than in the UK , there is some complexity around bringing dogs out , but there is plenty of help and it's like most things once you have done it once it seems routine then. Thanks for watching best wishes H and M

The oldest town, not village and there is some debate as to the validity of the claim. But Ponte de Lima is a town not a village.
