there are some essentials missing. Stash: Why you stash it? What is stashing actually doing? When to use stashed objects and why? I can assume but it would be super helpful to explain, it's an essential missing part which makes it hard for me as a rookie to apply those techniques. I am assuming you need to stash geo because you need it later for the normal information? To transfer? bruuh... tough as a rookie to follow. But love all your stuff, thx a bunch and keep rocking. cheers

Man, I'm SO glad that I found mesh machine. And I love this tutorial. It took me a year to finally get to mesh machine as I wanted to get really good with modeling with Blender first. I love this tool, and I look forward to getting into all your other tutorials, and will buy your lessons for sure.

Hey Ryuurui, wanted to say thank you for the great videos that you and Josh do. I have purchased one of the Blender Bros Hard Surface modeling courses and have been making my way through it. I have enjoyed the workflow that both of you use and wanted to know if you and Josh would ever consider take the time show how you have set up your Blender Preferences and your settings for BoxCutter, HardOps, KitOps, DECAL machine, MESHmachine. I have purchased these over the years and loved them but I am always looking to find a better way to work with; keystroke key combos and which options in the addons should checked on or off. Once again thank you and keep up the great work.

Great tutorial, thank you very much for that Ryuu. I have Mesh Machine, and have used it many times, but the only way I've used it is for Boolean cleanup and offset edge. You made it look very easy to use in your vid, but in practice I have actually really struggled to make use of its other functionalities. Is it just me? I don't find it very intuitive to use, I was always struggling to get it to do anything I wanted, and even the pop up messages don't really help, they're rather dry and technical, and just tell you what you can't do, instead of helping you to do what you want to. I realise now that some of these issues were clearly my fault, like trying to do a fuse operation on a non-quad face loop, not gonna happen, but at the time I was a bit stuck. There's no doubt that this is a really powerful and helpful add on that's worth having, but I've realised that stuff like this needs a considerable and very conscious effort to learn.

Ahh feck me I didn't know about stash it. I'm guessing it's the same as me duplicating the mesh before boolean operation. No wonder normals transfer never worked for me in MACHIN3. Thanks, man! Been using data transfer and, some times, it's a pain in the butt and doesn't do its job properly. Hopefully, this works 100% of the time.

Yeah, you have no worries about future use. These add ons are constantly updated by their developers to keep up with the latest revisions to Blender. Recent versions of both Machine Tools and Mesh Machine have been updated to full compatibility with Blender 3.0. The updates are free, and indefinite, as far as I can make out. Buy from Blender Market if you can, their system works really well. It's important to understand that the developer of this add on, "Machin3", is considered somewhat of a 'blue chip' developer among the Blender community, along with a select group of other developers, who often collaborate when releasing revisions or new software, to ensure interoperability, because it is so common for people to use all their add ons at the same time. Notable examples of these 'blue chip' developers who collaborate would be Team C/Master Xeon (Hard Ops + Boxcutter), Chipp Walters (Kit-Ops Pro + a ton of other stuff), Eric Klein (K-CyclesX), the Powersave guy, (bonjourno-7 I think) to name a few. The one thing that all these developers have in common is that they are so dedicated to making blender better with their add ons, they just don't stop. It's actually quite amazing, and Blender is SO much better for their efforts. I hope this answers your query.

Nah you're just not watching it carefully enough, I clearly say that 'stash it' stashes normal information of the faces, at 10:50, and this vid is NOT for beginners, so if you do not know what normal inf. is then you should learn the basics first, mate. There is no way I can fit all info about mesh machine in a short vid, AND explain all the basics to beginners at the same time.
@elkustero9559
@elkustero9559 2 жыл бұрын
I was watching it carefully and after looking at several other „beginner“ tutorials i still couldn‘t figure out how the whole plugs stash/vselect/normal transfer works. And that was the reason i bought the addon in the first place. As soon as i add more than one plug, it f***s up the topology completly and i am unable to bring it back to anything useful. It looks like i spent 40 something bucks on an addon and another few bucks on plugs that i do not understand. Off to the bin with that frustrating thing
