This GXP has an aftermarket exhaust and an aftermarket intake. The stock exhaust system doesn't drone. The LS3 is probably been tuned too, if that is the case it's putting out at least 450hp. There is nothing wrong with GM quality, the car has 12 years of wear and tear on it. This design dates back to 2007. Compare the interior to other cars from 2007, and the G8 interior is hands down better quality than 95% of the vehicles from that era. The only bad thing about the G8 is the high end Blaupunkt stereo system is crap.

I had an 04' GTO M6 for five years. I test drove the G8 GT when it came out right before they axed Pontiac. I should have bought one, I knew they'd become a classic. It was the GTO PERFECTED. Even the back seat was a pleasant place to be. Don't get me wrong, no luxury here but purpose built and functional. No overdone plastic body cladding like the Camaro. Just a sleeper with sick amounts of power underneath. Even the steering response was amazing..no dead spot in the middle like the GTO. It even cornered well. GM really did go all out on this car making sure it kept it's Aussie DNA unlike the rushed to market GTO. If you have one, consider yourself lucky. More rare to see one than most Porsches.

At about 1:41 where the plastic panel for the forward/back switch is hanging there was a recall for this part. Many chose to zip tie it back into place, and no one was the wiser. I own an '09 GT which I recently purchased and love. The original owner chose the zip tie repair, but he also included the replacement part from the recall which I still have sealed in plastic and in the trunk. I guess when and if the zip tie breaks, then I'll replace it with the improved part. These are great cars.

They sold 41,000 units in 2008-2010. The sport mode is just moving the shifter to manual mode without up/down shifting. The G8 is actually a full size sedan, not mid size. It statistically has more space front and back than the interiors of the newest Dodge Chargers. BMW similar design was due to engineers with a BMW background. Aside from those things, I enjoyed the video. Many are indeed beat up, that's why I get a lot of compliments when people see mine. Maybe 2 or 3 compliments whenever I do actually drive it.

Very cool no doubt! I I agree with your take on GM quality LOL! And honestly yes Pontiac made some awesome cars, but they also made some awful cars... I had a ‘97 Sunfire and it was one of the worst cars I have ever owned! As much as the Internet loves to bash on Chrysler quality the reason why a car like a Charger will be more popular is that Chrysler has consistently made better cars than GM in the last 25 years... My first car was a Chevy and I grew up loving GM’s to a point of obsession, but when I started working on cars professionally I couldn’t help but notice 75% of the broken vehicles were of the GM variety... this was in an area where at the time domestic vehicles made up 95% of the vehicles on the road... and yes GM is a huge brand and at the time they probably were selling more vehicles than Ford or Chrysler, but working on the three brands side by side, day to day, I really developed a bias towards the Chrysler vehicles and somewhat of a hatred towards the GM vehicles. A lot of people that work on cars professionally actually do prefer the GM brand, but I believe that is only because they grow so used to working on them LOL! One thing about GM is that there are always plenty of them in the wrecking yards, so if you are really dedicated to keeping one on the road you can always do so pretty cheaply.

I own a GT version, going to be swapping in an LS3 crate engine due to a lifter fucking up my L76. For those who are in the market for a G8, they are absolutely awesome cars. However, if you go for a GT just beware of lifter failure. I didn't even have the DoD and it still failed, from the factory the DoD will destroy your engine at any given moment, save up some money to get that deleted and put some Johnson lifters in it and you'll have a nice reliable car 🤙🏼

Don't bother with the cost of an LS3. Swap in a Brian Tooley Racing DOD delete kit with the Stage 1 cam. After the tune, I ended up with over 400 hp at rear wheels (more than an LS3) with stock exhaust and intake. My G8 screams now.

Good review. I don't believe GM actually who this car was for. This was on many examples of cars were many enthusiast wanted them but when the manufacture provided it no one actually brought it. This was a rebadged Holden Commodore that arrived on our shores and failed. Auto manufactures have realized the error of trying to carter to a market that is all talk but don't actually buy. I believe we will continue to see less cars like this. Kind of sucks but I understand that tame SUV's and family sedans are what people buy.
@MeynMotorGroup4 жыл бұрын
Exactly my friend that is precisely whats going on and in this ev regulation world we are headed, cars like this will be extinct in no time. But its crazy how long dodge has been able to last with their crazy cars but thats mostly because they actually sell! I can't believe dodge sells so many Challengers and Chargers. Their marketing is great but also they have great lease programs and the redesign for those cars happened in 2015 when the economy was actually good. Unfortunately stuff like the Pontiac and V10 BMWs existed in the middle of a recession as well which I'm sure didn't help
@marchudson8803 жыл бұрын
And the reason GM didn’t care to put a manual transmission on the new C8. Nobody buys them anymore. Ask six people you know and I bet 4 can’t drive stick.
@wigletron28462 жыл бұрын
It's because enthusiasts tend to be younger and can't afford brand new cars. The people who can afford an enthusiast vehicle brand new usually have families. Not to mention GM never really marketed the G8 or the SS at all. The G8 came out during the $4+ gas prices of 2008. The SS was only brought here to meet an obligation to Holden before GM axed the company.

In my opinion the Holdens were kicking GM ass in styling and quality and performance.

That would be an incredible collector's car. However I am not sure I wouldn't rather have a newer, but very similar Chevrolet SS with 6spd manual and Magnetic dampers.
@MeynMotorGroup4 жыл бұрын
Agreed! And yea really want to try a Chevy SS
@wbwayne88874 жыл бұрын
@@MeynMotorGroup You should, and then you can compare the 2 drives. I would be interested in hearing which one you liked more.
@MeynMotorGroup4 жыл бұрын
Yes that would be ideal! But yea I think the SS will be even more of a clean driving experience albeit more money to buy tho since it's newer
@wbwayne88874 жыл бұрын
@@MeynMotorGroup Would it truly be more though. I figured values would have gone up quite a bit on the G8 GXP by now. Such a rare vehicle from a GM division that isn't around anymore.
@MeynMotorGroup4 жыл бұрын
Yea I think perhaps parts prices might be higher or just non existent in general because Pontiac is no longer in business but idk I feel like that applies for many cars that have gone up in value lol

The only things I hate about my G8 is the carrier bearing issue, power seat control comes out of the seat and their not full power control, and remote start sucks. I almost have to be up on the car for it to start, most of the time.

Why did Pontiac discontinued to keep making their cars?
@jojojeep110 ай бұрын
Why do you keep saying four-cylinder garbage, 91 Honda Civic 2000 pounds turbo charger and a laptop 600 hp , half the weight and it would smoke that car and believe me the G8 is one of my all-time favorites

Looks like a BMW when BMW's did not look like ass. Awesome platform and good suspension. Muscle car engine and feel. Lots or room inside. Has Australian V8 super car heritage. Engine that has maybe the greatest aftermarket support of any engine every. Motor that is easy to work on. Other than a spartan looking interior, I don't see any downsides to this car.
