Pontiac GTO Oil Pan Gasket Install!

Hey, how's it going? Welcome to Big Blocks channel.
In this video, we're installing an oil pan gasket in a 2005 Pontiac GTO. The method I used involves supporting the engine while dropping the subframe, saving a TON of time.

michael norwood not a problem man! The hardest part is putting the subframe back on. I used a couple jacks and went really slow. Also a good time to do motor mounts if you haven’t already.

How much is the jack?. I need to do this to my GTO

G Murphy my buddy paid ~$1500 for the quick jacks but I’ve seen used ones go for as low as $900.

Ouch, that is a neat lifter but I've seen some fail on other youtubers. I would probably put some jack stands in case it fails.

This seems a lot easier than lifting the motor out and shimming it back and forth both times, pulling it out and then putting it back in. Best of all looks like this way it can be done by 1 person.

SweetLowFat Jesus yeah totally! I did this alone and it was fairly easy. Just make sure you secure the engine to the bar well.

Great video man! 2 questions for you, (1) Did you do cradle alignment after? Lastly, what wheels is that? I’ve been looking for that brand but can’t find it. Thank you!

andre hafrian thank ya! I made some marks on the cradle to get it close as possible then had an alignment done right after. The wheels are Motegi MR135s, I think they’re really cheap on eBay at the moment

If you lower the cradle just enough for the pan to clear when removing, how much of the suspension actually needs to be un-done from the cradle? Can most of it be left together?

You didn't do the oil pump pickup tube should of done it while in there

Where did u place the quick jack, on pinch weld?

Pablo silva yeah, It came with rubber blocks that go between the jack and car to level it out as well.
