there is a video greeks and turks drinking and eating in trabzon. playing kemence-lyra and dancing together. its a nice video for our brotherhood. i'm from turkey but recently i learned that my grandpa is from thessoloniki-selanik and it made me happy. though i'm turkish i have great respect for greek culture. greeks are the roots of european culture and philosophy. so if i'm half greek, i'm proud.

THIS IS THE GREEKEST DANCE EVER !!! It had been danced from all the greeks during the ancient times, it is reported by Platon and Aristofanis, it is called sera by the pontians becaused it first danced a long before the turkish arrival at pontus at a river next to Trapezounta called sera, it is called pyrrhic from the other greeks, it is danced only from Pontians because they are the only Greeks who kept it during their history, IT IS NEITHER TURKISH, NOR GEORGIAN, NOR ARMENIAN !!!! IT IS THE GREEKEST DANCE EVER EXCISTED !!!! But the turks had stolen it (as many other things from our history), i dont know why, they call it ''choron'' ''χορον'' wich is a greek word and means dance !!! They dont know what they say !!! Also they call it the dance of Trapezoynta !! Trapezoynta was GREEK until 1922 when was stolen from the Turks with leader Kemal Ataturk who killed with no reason 353.000 greek Pontians !!! PONTOS IS GREECE, PONTIANS ARE GREEKS, SERA PYRHIC IS GREEK !!!

it's funny that they call it " horon ". Just like they call Constantinople " Istanbul " - in the middle ages to go to Constantinople was said as going " eis tin poli " - to the city. Eis tin poli -> eistinpoli -> eistinpol -> Istanbul. 7/10 for conquering the city, 0/10 for original thinking lol

The immigrant Turks who came to Anatolia were nomads who lived in tents and enjoyed a simple cuisine. In the words of one historian, their cuisine 'was a very simple affair consisting primarily of the produce of their flocks - meat, milk, yogurt, cheese supplemented by millet or other grains, fruit, honey, eggs and a type of unleavened wafer'. They undoubtedly absorbed more from the culture of the locals than they contributed.

@Nickname997 - Your comments are true enough to some extent. However the original Turks were certainly 'Mongol' in appearance as are most Central Asian Turks today. Although one can still see an Asiatic element amongst them, the Anatolian Turks have had a HEAVY contribution from the - overwhelmingly Christian and largely, but not exclusively, Greek-speaking - population that was there before the Turks arrived.
@alyctus

@61engin53 tourkosporos yes... actually it's pejorative (meiotic) characterisation like when you swear someone..or when someone has tanned skin and stays close to Turkey it's not something that is used for all Greeks.. Personally my grandparents coming from a place surrounded by mountains and they told me that the turks never went there so... ;) I'm sure you don't like when someone says bad things about Turkey so you shouldn't say bad things about Greece. It's a propaganda of the politicians..

How 'Turk' are Anatolian Turks? What proportion are slant-eyed Mongol in appearance? At what school did you pick up your statistics? No doubt that there is much pre-Greek Anatolian 'blood' in the veins of the Pontians ... but without the overwhelming Greek element they wouldn't be who they are now.

don't claim these to be ancient greeks, these are also dressed like persian soldiers, all in black and all, Ancient Hellas/Illyrians/Etruscans aka Pelasgians warriors wore white as the dominant color whether they were pants or fustanella! Look at jean leon gerome's "pyrrhic dance" and "La Danse Pyrrhique". The fustanella warriors aka Albanians still carry this tradition. Pyrrhus aka "the eagle" called Illyrians "eagles people" aka Shqiptar(in Albanian means eagles people)!

@61engin53 My friend it has nothing to do with hearsay. The Turks you are pointing to are in the west. They have drawn hugely from the DNA of pre-existing European (et al) peoples. It is left to you to explain why the Turks in their original lands in Central Asia (from where Turks embarked to head westwards) are still 'Asian' in appearance (not that there is anything wrong with that). Talking of Turks as Mongols is to draw attention to their having invaded and raped lands not theirs ...

Actually the 'real Greece' was originally mountainous Epirus and western Macedonia. ... and later Anatolia was very much a core 'Greek' (=Greek-speaking) land during the days of Byzantium - in fact the Empire's heartland just as it became later under the Ottomans. This was the case from about the 6th century AD until the Turks/Muslims got the upper hand demographically in the 1300s ...

@Nickname997 Yes there is a high proportion of 'native blood' in the 'veins' of the modern Turks - although in general the Turks don't wish to accept this. There is however, still a size-able Central Asian infusion and there is nothing native about this particular element; not its appearance; not its culture; not its language ...

@61engin53 I believe that the only thing that the Greeks have right now is ethnic and historical roots. we don't love christianity.. and we have nothing to do with the muslim world because we hate it.. actually Turkey sends illegal immigrants in Greece who go in Athens and they try to built a mosque and all Greeks got furious about that.We DON'T WANT MUSLIMS IN GREECE. Alexander was GREEK Macedonian..even his name is greek and it means 'someone who dissipates the men'..

Well. Dance name: Horon Horon word: Turkic origin Dance instruments: Tulum, Kemenche Tulum and Kemenche words: Turkic(Tulum=leather case in Khakas Turkic, Kemenche: Cuman Turkic leader name called "Kemenche Khan") And the Turkic Cumans: have come to Greece and they've invaded Pontic Greek empire, they've destroyed 50.000 of Pontic Greek soldiers in Artvin/Turkey. The most certain, the instruments and the dance have been brought to Eastern Blacksea by the Turkic Cumans. Most of today's people of Blacksea/Turkey: are descended from Turkic Cumans, I'm just one of them. These clothes are also belongs to Topal Osman's and İpsiz Recep's Turk militants who've destroyed so many of Pontic Greek gangsters and helped to Turkish army to expulsion of Greeks ;) You now felt in love with your destroyers :D.
