Celestia and Luna are honestly kind of weak. Celestia basically got bodied in one hit by Chrysalsis, and ocmmonly are defeated within seconds by whatever threat they come across.

It's not really subtle nor "slipped in." It's just a really obvious and awesome part of the show. MLP has always been a high-concept fantasy universe. You can see lots of Greek design in Cloudsdale.

Majoramask is a good pen name for a dark fic... Probably the darkest version of the series... And most depressing... Also this story reminds me of ying and yang... That the universe requires true equilibrium and that good and bad needs balance... Like 100 years of peace that fallows 100 years of war... Or that a powerful good requires a equally powerful evil... Equal by numbers or equal by strength... The kind of depressing thought that fits perfectly with the story...

Also, technically Princess Twilight should be immortal, now that she's an alicorn. Even though Princess Cadence wasn't born an alicorn (she became one), she still seems very much immortal. I mean, she's got to be probably around a good few hundred years by now. She lived to reclaim her rightful throne, as ruler of the Crystal Empire. AND she lived to have a baby with Shining Armor. AND she's STILL ALIVE! You'd think that she'd be dead by now, but she isn't! Cadence is still alive and well, same as Twilight! Naturally born alicorn or not, in my opinion I think that should make Princess Twilight immortal. She became an alicorn in the very last episode of Season 3, and now the show is in Season 6! Now she's been an alicorn for a whole 3 seasons! She should've and probably would've died at this point of old age, if she was still a unicorn. But her new alicorn powers seem to be giving her youth! Either that, or the creators of the show don't want to see any characters turn old and gray, or die, so then that way, they can keep the show going. Just my opinion of that.

No matter what they do Equestria is still going to be endangered, and they are still going to be the only ones to protect it. That they can either run and fight death head on or they can just sit there and wait for a monster to take over Equestria and kill them anyways. Idk I feel like that would be a pretty solid argument
