Pool Care 101 - Are you missing these pool parts?

The pool company that opened my pool this year, never installed mine. Said the pool heater wasn't working and put me in for a service call. When the service guy came he said they never turned on the gas in the heater, so he was here for 1 minute. I guess I'm gonna have to learn to do this stuff myself because it's pretty ridiculous.

The other reason for the weir is to create faster surface flow on the water to pull floating objects into the skimmer. If you hold the weir down you'll notice to water will fill the skimmer and there will be no surface flow and objects will just float right by the skimmer.

The weir door is suppose to shut when the pool is off. If it’s not shutting make sure it’s not missing the foam that is built into it, if it is you need to replace it.

@@ClearlySeen if my skimmer doesn’t have a weir door and I don’t see and holes/notches to add one, can I just drill into the skimmer plastic to add it? Will that cause any problems with leaks? I believe I have a sta right skimmer.

I have added plenty a skimmer Wiers that did not have notches or holes. I would try to add one with the spring tension that holds it in place. I wouldn’t recommend drilling any.

My Weir stopper is broken, sort of chipped away, and the weir door gets stuck shut so I have to put something inside the skimmer to keep the door from shutting completely. Obviously, if the door gets stuck closed then the pump won't get water. Could you help me to know how I can fix this? Thanks Michael

It sounds like you just need to remove the existing weir door And replace it with a new one. There is a link in the description where you can find them hope that helps.

Make sure to point them going in one direction. That way the pool will circulate properly.

what is the problem or motorpump can't increase water in motorpump & water get drained that a big problem?

That sounds like you may have a air leak on the suction side of the plumbing somewhere.

those two holes in the inside of the skimmer basket, what are they for? can i cut them? it makes it hard to put the skimmer basket in with them

Most of the time there is a missing metal handle that also acts as a weight to keep it from floating.

HI, I'm having a problem with my skimmer suction, too much water, and the drain doesn't suction water. When we put any kind of hose to vacuum manually or automatically, the hose suctions together because its so strong. What is the part that I am to put inside the skimmer to prevent so much water flowing from the skimmer. I want to switch it to the drain, I can't find that part or know what it is called. Help please

It sounds like your main drain is turned off. Usually you will have a ball valve or a Jandy valve and you’re going to want to open the main drain some. Look for a closed ball valve or jandy valve by the pump and open it some that should take away some of the pressure from the skimmer.Check the water level make sure the water level is halfway up the skimmer’s

Yeah those can be tuff to deal with because of the low amount of circulation.
