This week we completely removed a fibreglass pool that hasn't been used in years.
Access was tight as you can see but everything went to plan.
Once the shell was cut and removed we sourced clean fill from around Melbourne and compacted it in layers up to 400mm with a heavy compactor and excavator. We finished it off with a 150mm top layer of recycled crushed concrete to give the client a flat, functional area under cover that they can use for years to come.
Now they can get the pool removed off the councils plans and enjoy their new space.

All those who don't understand getting rid of a pool it's because you don't have one. My home has had a pool for 40 odd years. My husband and I used it, the kids used it, the grandkids used it. Then use of the pool became the occasional ten days a year. Pools are expensive to maintain not to mention the work to keep them clean. I would dearly love to get rid of my pool.

Could have achieved all that, AND kept the increased property value, by draining, cleaning, fixing, and leaving empty, but ready to fill n use by next owner…also increased equity for current owner…could also cover or fill with large plastic / styrofoam balls , 3-4 foot diameter, so no one falls in empty pool
@BlessedToBeSaved333

@@rstumbaugh43 absolutely. It's truly insane to fill in a pool considering the value they add to the home. Not much maintenance to keep the pool closed. Not the wisest choice, but perhaps the best for the homeowner. I am flabbergasted about filling in a pool tho.

Should have just filled in the pool area.Should have left the paving around it, and left the plexiglass in place.Shouldn't have added gravel. Clean it up, hang some lights, put some heaters in it, and you'd have a winter greenhouse. Now you have compacted gravel which will only grow weeds inside a frame. What will they use it for?

I'm also fairly surprised that they didn't have a new/nicer pool built in place of the old one. Oh well, to each, their own I suppose. 🤷‍♂️ You fellas who tore out the pool and filled it in, you did a damn nice job considering the circumstances. Talk about a tight fit with your equipment and moving all of that fill. Nice work, and thank you for sharing!

The truth is that the owner wanted the pool gone! That’s the only reason needed! Maybe they couldn’t afford to keep it! Or maybe they have other uses for that space! I don’t understand why so many people are having such a problem with them getting rid of the pool!

@FLOWERSANDSLOTS
@FLOWERSANDSLOTS Жыл бұрын
@@carolpaiva8170 Oh dear, such a tragedy. I completely understand their decision. I have had an in-ground pool most of my life (60). I had a friend who bought a home with pool already installed. They had a party and a family member went down the slide head first (which I have done my entire life with shallow dive at the end) and she hit her head on the bottom, broke her neck and died instantly. Slides are so dangerous that most, if not all, insurance companies will not insure pool coverage if you had a board or a slide. You must take them out. Again, I'm sorry for your neighbor's tragedy.

Ummm...why not just drop all of the concrete that was cut away from around the pool into the void that was left after the lining was removed? A whole lot of wasted effort pulling it out to the street when there was a perfectly good deep and empty hole to put it in. But, yeah, nah, I would have kept the pool, cleaned it out and thrown in a coupla mermaids, nymphs palm trees and a water slide. Bewdy.

In some of my other videos we do that at the owners request. However, the councils here want proof that a complete removal has been done to remove it off of their plans with photographic evidence. It is also a lot easier and safer to do this job properly once the pool is filled in as there is no longer a void to fall into (OH&S)
