Wow no compacted gravel base and back filled with dirt?
@matthewfowler20394 жыл бұрын
Our pool build started a week ago. We have gravel everywhere. I was shocked when watching this video.

It is a gravel base and backfilled with gravel, not dirt. Maybe it's hard to tell in the video.

It's fascinating how often I see _flexible tubing_ used for the underground plumbing lines; flexible tubing is _not _*_pipe._* Why are so many pool contractors not using *Schedule 40 rigid PVC pipe,* similar to PVC pipe in watermains, rated for potable water?? Flexible tubing is actually called, “spa hose”, typically, and was originally developed for _aboveground_ spas. Over time, tubing will collapse/squeeze under soil weight (or compaction); is susceptible to bugs & rodents chewing it; the inside walls are not smooth, resulting in bad hydraulics; and, what very few take seriously, flexible tubing is a _soft plastic made with _*_chemical plasticizers_* that is not healthy for conveying water you swim in (especially mildly chlorinated water that will breakdown the inside walls) and the plasticizers will leach into the pool.

Where does the water run between the pool and the house?
@dmcconnell683 жыл бұрын
There is a drain that runs between the deck and the house.

Thank you for sharing. I'm considering Metroplex Pools for an install. Are you still happy with your pool and install?
@dmcconnell683 жыл бұрын
Mostly. The one thing that I'm not happy with is their recommendation to forego waterline tile. The pool is fine but my back yard has full sun and the sun beating down on the exposed fiberglass has left it hazy looking and I have not found any way to make it look good again. At some point, I'm going to have to break down and get someone out here to add water line tile which will probably mean cutting out and redoing the coping as well. Not something I'm looking forward to, but the way the fiberglass looks really bothers me.

@@dmcconnell68 Thank you for this. The waterline tile was added as an option which we were debating, but you have helped with making that decision easier for us. I appreciate it. Thanks again for sharing the video and your experience!

Too bad they cemented around it....it will be very very hot because of the cement...and theres no over spill passage...! Wrong concept!

I wonder how they talked the neighbors into letting them do all that on the other side of the fence 😬😬😬
