First thing you do is keep the 2 pieces together, hold them against the wall and door and draw with a pencil around both circle pieces. Perfect placement.

Ideally you want to place them close to corners cause they look really goofy when they're in the center and people wonder what they are. It will still work if you use them close to the inner corner diameter

I have seen doors like this in English movies. If you want to open the door from outside of the house, you must use key. If you are inside of the house, you don't have to use use key to open the door. I have seen very complicated scenes in movies relating doors. Not only they can save you but also they can kill you.

Why magnet put under the center of door. Much better near edge…

Towards the center, so its not in the way. As its closer to the corner where less things will walk. If its closer to the edge, it takes up more usable floor and wall space
