Gas issues are one of several but often one of the most common causes of porosity in a weld, others like paint, oil, grease, etc are more of a carelessness or rush issue. Using the wrong gas for the process also can contaminate the weld. While it can be improper equipment use, often it falls under a lack of knowledge and understanding or where and how to trouble shoot an issue

Great Video, I was welding yesterday and thought the wind kept blowing my gas, shut all the shops doors and same thing, went back at it today and same situation on a different part, Had to crank my flow to get the job done. I will be testing all these areas tomorrow. Thanks for all the help.

Great video/information. I just had the issue with the line inside of the machine actually disconnected from the fitting. Took a while to find that out!

Those are the worst when you’ve checked everything else and find the gems hiding inside, but it’s a great time to clean it out

Great job! Hunting down a problem on a Miller synchro wave 210 that I purchased recently. Will be difficult to check torch hose as there is a woven mesh that covers the entire length. Any suggestions on how to check that?

Do hoses & TIG torches between different branded machines have the same type of fittings and construction & are they interchangable? Also I know that fittings are gas specific at the cylinder but not sure if this carries on into the hose construction to the machine. Not much experience in this trade so I hope the question isn't too stupid.
@adamstreich30072 жыл бұрын
The short answer is maybe. Different machines use different fittings, often you can adapt and change fittings and types, so they may not be easily adapted. This example is interchangeable with other thru the dinse type hoses, but not others. What type of torch do you want to pair with which welder? Most of the sizes are fairly standard for many manufacturers

I am wondering as to how many retakes he had to make to get the "gas issues" without laughing?

Can a pin hole leak in the argon be repaired on a CK 17VFX torch? If so, please advise the best way to go about this. Thanks in advance. I really enjoy your informative video content.

I have never seen tapered threads on any flow meter, gage or regulator. ( 5 : 19 ) Did you mean seat ??? It's not really a tapered seat, just brass on brass with a semi spherical contact area. Teflon tape is for tapered pipe threads. Not straight threads on regulators. Tim

Why do you call it a contamination problem, when it’s a problem of improper equipment usage and care?
@mightyjo3young Жыл бұрын
This is about as straight forward as it gets. Atmosphere entering is contamination, and it is a problem. How it came about is irrelevant for the purpose of this video. He does an excellent job of explaining where to look and how to remedy. The viewer can then take that knowledge and apply to routine maintenance checks to prevent them in the future if they so choose. Title is perfect for the video.
