I’m not being ageist as I am in the same demographic. However, both JLo and Gwen are 55 years old. It might be a combination of overexposure, lack of current musical artist innovation and diminishing audience interest. agism in pop music plain and simple. Just to verify, let's compare her to literally every female in pop over the age of 55, and see who's doing best comparatively. Kylie Minogue? While shes easily sweeping the top album spots in European countries and Australia, I don't even think Tension scored better than 21st place on the billboard album charts. Like if all icons who have honed their craft for literal decades cant collectively achieve a spot higher than 21, clearly the problem isn't them. The industry works against them, and young girls who largely determine album success never have and never will look to women over the age of 55 for relatability, admiration, taste, etc. As sad as it is, women at this age almost exclusively rely on the gays for album sales.

My theory is that this new music is so common sounding, it can be played anywhere and everywhere, (grocery stores etc) so the royalties will be rolling in for her. It's hard for the older artists to maintain their earlier glory. I read somewhere that music sales are all about teenagers and younger adults buying music or buying albums for your kids, that older people don't buy so much music for themselves. I think this might be changing somewhat, but I've noticed that artists focused on a younger, cooler brand don't do so well after they age. Katy Perry for example, her music is tanking lately and I don't think it's just because it actually sucks. I think she had that bubblegum look about her that appealed to young children, and she's 40 something now isn't she? Kids look up to the young 20 something celebrities, not aging celebrities. Hollywood is all about being young and cool. Maybe this is changing too but I think most people who spent their money on music and partying when they were young have to think about mortgages and school fees and buying things mostly to cater to their kids. It's sad because Gwen Stefani is such an amazing songwriter, but I listened to a few of her latest songs and they're not as outrageous and fun and danceable as they used to be. Nobody's kids or teenagers are gonna wanna listen to it. Nor will the young adults. Poor Gwen.

I think there comes a time in an artists career when people don’t want new music, they want to go to a concert and hear the hits. Same thing is happening to a lot of older artists. Go to Vegas, do a residency and play the hits and you’ll still pull in fans to come see your shows. (Backstreet Boys, Boys 2 Men, Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, NKOTB, and others from my parents generation, are still making more money off their legacy music!)

Gwen Stefani's last album debuted at #1 on the Billboard Albums chart. Wow! And I really like some of the songs on her last album. I didn't buy her new album, though. None of the songs impressed me enough to buy it. Too bad! #98! And Gwen is very good and likeable, currently on 'The Voice".

I never liked her ..the only song i actually liked was rich girl with eve.. And i think when she got with blake made it more worst..shawn mendes kinda surprised me though even though the single flopped i thought his album would still sell modest not so low numbers

I saw No Doubt live in the late 90's they were brilliant! But sadly as a solo artist I'm not a fan 😔 No Doubt need to make another SKA album 🙌🏾
