This is called "kotha" in gujarat.. known as wood apple in english... tastes best with sugar if it's ripe and tastes much better if eaten a bit unripe with salt and red chilli powder..

The texture is mostly the same as a totally ripe guava but here in woodapple the seeds are abit huge thn that of guava. And yh the taste can't be described as it has it's own unique flavour.. i wish u to visit gujarat and enjoy this delicious healthy fruit.

These are wood apples and has different local names. In odisha we call it kaintha, which is mostly made chutney with spices and served. It's really healthy and very tasty!

Bel or Bael is different from kaintha or kaitha..ripe bel is too sweet but kaitha/khaintha is sour .Bel sharbat is very soothing and anti diarrheal..kaintha chutney is digestive.
